Why Did you start playing FFXIV and why do you still play?

Im not going to spend a lot of time on my answer since most people probably know this from reading my other posts.

Why did I start Playing?

I started Playing FFXIV when I was invited into the FFXIV Alpha Testing. Cobra Kai Dojo was created in FFXI so a lot of people CKD were interested in playing FFXIV. There really never was a question of IF I would play FFXIV. It was just a matter of when.

The only reason I still play this game is because I still see the potential in what this game could be. I also enjoy this constantly changing game. This is like the Wild West of MMOs right now. Anything could happen. Its exciting.

It also helps that I have a strong group of friends who are all very serious about waiting to see where this game goes.

Mostly since I got nothing better to do and I hate how MMOs have mostly become a way to nickel and dime you whenever they can.

I already had plans to play XIV when it was announced (no matter what condition it was in lol >.>). I made a couple of wonderful friends months before the game was released, but didn't actually get ingame with them until like, the first update. And I pretty much continue playing because I enjoy the game and my time with everyone ^___^

I started playing mostly because I like Final Fantasy and the fact that, despite their troubles with this game, SE is at least trying to be different with their MMOs. I only played FFXI for a short while, but while I was there I had a good time and enjoyed the experience, and I'm hoping FFXIV becomes at least as successful as its predecessor.

I'm staying for more or less the same reasons you are -- this game has a lot of potential (don't they all?) and I want to see what happens. It'll be interesting. And if things work out and they turn this ship around, it'll be worth it.

Plus, despite its flaws, I still enjoy the game.

First post:

I started playing because I waited a long time for this game to be released and prepared my PC and my linkshell far ahead of time. I still play because even after my entire linkshell is gone and the time investment has been deemed worthless (domain names and server expenses as well as time invested within a large member group) I still enjoy making new characters and playing for a few days here and there.

I will be online as fast as the rest of us as soon as the servers come back up. I am look forward to playing this character (Mako Roni) further and finding a new group of players to play alongside of.

I started release. Quit two weeks after. SP system changes were implemented so I came back to try it out. Then the development team was revamped which is the main reason I am still here. I know of how good the work of the current development has been in past games and I figure I will stick with the game until they release something really good because I know they will.

I started playing because Grog was all "Hey I got into the FFXIV Alhpa!" and then it was "Oh man! This this and this makes this game awesome!" and so on, and he got my hyped for it. I like the IDEA of FFXI, but I didn't want to comit my life to getting to Level 40 Monk.

I was hoping this game would be FFXI with better graphics and a more casual friendly style. It wasn't, I was upset, and complained A LOT when the CE launch occured. Game ran like shit, there was nothing to do, and shit still took all day.

As of now, the game has gotten a lot better. There is still a long ways to go, but my Linkshell keeps me here. Although I'm Co-Founder and kinda HAVE to be here, I don't mind it because I like the people in our Shell, and they help make an often boring game more enjoyable.

QFT, I'd have /ragequit if I didn't get in leve groups w/ Fated. Although I got to admit my attention span with the game is getting pretty low. Reading the trolls/white knights in general has been more entertaining for me than the game sadly.
