CS3 is not doing well keeping up with engaging content. They're working slower with less output. The studio needs rest, yes, but they also need more team members to be able to meet with demand. The ultimate question is, will Square-Enix pay to hire more staff, given how much money they siphon away from the game?

I highly doubt that's gonna happen because of my extreme disapproval of Square-Enix corporate's money policies. If CS3 wants this game to continue, they need to change up their path. Interest in the content we are receiving is waning, and accessibility is a big part of that, and we need more content more people feel confident in enjoying together.

I enjoy solo content in the game, but I didn't start playing FFXIV as a purely solo experience. I never wanted it to be one. More frequently it's feeling like a single player game I have to pay a monthly fee for because the content we do have does not have a long shelf-life. I don't just want long-term goals, but I also want long-term goals that require me to play with other people for the duration!

If their plan for 7.1 and 7.2 indicates their choice of how to allocate their resources, then it's not sustainable and they need to cut the chaff. Start up again from the ground or poll, or something to see what the majority of players actually want, rather than their current estimations. They're not trying to innovate, and it's boring the hell out of us.

I'd DT is any indication, the game is in slow decline. Post EW pushed away hundreds of thousands of active players who never came back. DT itself lost hundreds of thousands more, it's hard to pin down exactly how many due to the free login campaign bloating the number (it's still a worse drop off than the one seen in 6.1 even if you don't consider the login campaign at all). The lights are on , the usual content is produced, but I'm going to go ahead and say jobs, slow development, and the sub itself are all pushing players away.
