The idea that Gen Z has never seen an analog clock is absurd lol.

Be sure to give all your directional instructions in terms of Larboard and Starboard.
If you cannot take 2 seconds to learn what clockwise and counterclockwise mean, how are you going to learn specific MMO or FF14 terms such as kiting, meteor marker, flare marker, and clock positions? Just because you've never seen an analog clock, doesn't mean you're unable to ask or quickly google what a word means.

Here's how to explain "clockwise":That's right. FFXIV's default UI features an analog clock.
- Log into FFXIV.
- Locate the minimap.
- Observe how the sun moves around the outer edge.
/p Tanks and Healers rotate widdershins <se.1>
/p DPS rotate deosil <se.1>

Even if someone wasn't aware of how an analogue clock operates, learning battle terms is nothing new. Even insular battle terms you wouldn't understand without context of this game already.

Of all the lessons that can be learned from different generations playing together, "kids don't know what a clock is" wasn't one of them I'd have imagined.
What's to remember? Should developers not use any kind of rotational mechanic or asset in any games, because some people don't know some very common terminology? I mean, even if someone doesn't know the words, they can see what is happening on the screen, and "rotating things" aren't exactly some super duper kept state secret. So, pray tell, what should the design be cautious of?
