Total noobs perspective on the hunt log

Whoever thought it would be a good idea to have zero logical ordering in the log?

I dont think the mobs are listed in alphabetical, nor by zone, so all you are doing if you go down the list, is hopping from place to place, wasting gil and time.

Sure, i could write a list on a piece of paper all the mobs that are in this zone, or the devs could actually add some sort of logical order to this mess.

Only saying cos i noticed that i am going back and forth now to the same place i was just at.

I am startign to see the same awful similarities that wow has. I am noticing them more now that i have a few days of play time in.

Wow is an awful game and i wished i never started it. I really do not want to see the same manipulative tactics used here. Such as wasting your time like that list is doing since there is no logical order.

There actually is a logical order to it, but unfortunately it's based what was the ARR leveling experience and the assumptions that each class/job was the player's initial class they use for doing MSQ. The creatures are listed in roughly the same order as they would have been encountered doing the MSQ and then the class/job quests at the same MSQ level.

It was very time efficient back then because you naturally run into the listed creatures doing your quests and they would help pad your XP to get to the right level for the next quest in the MSQ.

Things have changed too much since then and players usually decide to complete each rank all at once instead of doing it as they quest. A few of the MSQ quests that would have led you to the creatures no longer exist.

My advice for current players would be to review the entire rank at once and plan a route according to where things are instead of doing them in the order they're listed. Also remember that the class/entries on the hunting log are optional. They don't even exist for jobs that were added in the expansions. You're not really missing out on anything important by ignoring the class/job entries other than a few achievements and rings that no longer have any useful combat value.

The Recommendations window ({menus} > Duty > Recommendations) lists all of the Hunt Log entries in your current region, if I recall correctly.

LMAO if you think the hunt log is wasting your time, just wait til you see some of the time investment required for hunt and guildleve achievements, some of which have mounts/minions locked behind them
