If You're Still Around What's Holding Your Interest and Sub?

Came back to check in with the free return hoping for some refreshed feelings, forums has me like:


Took a break and tried WoW with TWW because the game (FFXIV) was feeling too same same, like I could mentally play the future without actually having to time travel... All things were mechanically similar, and becoming mechanically more similar, or when new just... seemed to be skinny. When I was playing I was playing PVP.

Still many things I prefer with FFXIV over WoW but have to say there are a lot of 'meat' examples that impressed me so far. Gameplay roleplay oozes out of so many places, especially when you think comparatively. Yet I find myself wishing FFXIV could improve, as I'd prefer to play it- but then I think how they've gone and I feel like they're stalling out rather than improving on many elements I'd dream would improve.



Might keep playing a bit to catch up, but the quick glance over here of things hasn't made me hopeful XD.

Levelling up, doing the role quests, learning EX fights properly for once. Looking forward to 7.1.

That said, the character graphics "upgrade" has forced most of my alts into early retirement so I don't know if I'll be staying subbed throughout the patch cycle or if I'm going to start taking breaks. I played multiple characters because I found them all appealing, but now they're uncanny and I get no joy from seeing any of them, so my glamouring hobby is dead.

My husband and I decided to run through the MSQ from ARR until Endwalker for nostalgia purposes.

Just in case the Dawntrail quality of writing is here to stay, we wanted to experience everything just once more.

It's my comfort food game. No matter how terrible work's been lately (don't really want to go into it here), I can jump in a few roulettes and just hit things for a while.

Also, the forum drama is fire.

1. Becoming a femhroth (waiting for my unlocked hairstyles to come back :'D)

3. Beast tribe quests
4. Raids and such that I haven't tried yet

But the MSQ really kept me consistently subbed, if I'm being honest. I did a lot of catch-up over the years when I first started playing a couple of years ago (or is it three now?).

My interest in the MSQ has waned since, and many of the things I want to try out require time, dedication, and friends that I don't have at the moment (even though I know I'm playing an MMO, past experiences has made it difficult for me to feel comfortable enough to make and maintain friends online).

Why do you stick with FFXIV?

MMOs are my home away from home experience for a decade now, and FF14 is the best I could find. I like the world, the overall story, the gameplay, the classes. There is no goal that I want to achieve - it's all about the journey. And if there's nothing to do on my main, I will just create another toon, and start this journey from the beginning.
I don't care about challenging content, min/maxing my character, PvP and the like - my real life is already challenging enough, don't want any of that in my play time.

And what could finally turn me away? Maybe if they follow the Strayborough road, and make any new dungeon an unplayable mess, this might be a reason for me to call it quits... time will tell, I guess.
