If You're Still Around What's Holding Your Interest and Sub?

Why am I still here? That's a question I've asked myself a lot recently, and I don't have any good answers other than nostalgia and comfort. I'm attached to my character(s), and I love the people I hang out with, but there are only four of us and we're all rando-averse, so we are not doing any current high-end content. We've recently been having fun going through old savages and extremes to farm mounts, but once we learn the fight it just becomes another chore to be completed. I'm bored, plain and simple. I have two alts that I have always been good about keeping up to date with the MSQ and current content, but I am really struggling to find the motivation to go through Dawntrail two more times.

I'm out. Last two days. Haven't logged in since the 30th. I'm pretty much done for the foreseeable future. There's nothing to do, and someone who I thought was my friend turned on me in a nasty way. So I'm FCless, and I just don't care to keep my subscription up. I was on the verge of quitting anyway, and that drama pushed me off the cliff.

Nothing "new" from LL ; it may be because I don't understand JP but they managed to make watching it boring instead of exciting...
Barely anything spread even more across 4.5 sub patches for whatever reason.
FFXI raid looks like a disjointed mess.

Sorry for the friend event, that sucks. Probably why I don't bother with statics, holy drama potential lol. In WoW we had the leader give a very rare drop to their new gf, that went down well! Or the raid lead who sucks but will offload all their failures onto minor and make believe issues. Lol. Social element of the game is still fun and all but the higher stakes stuff is way too highschool drama for me. Advent of personal loot in mmos was such a sigh of relief for me

Anyway, that social sting can really damage a game. Hope you'll find something exciting and freeing to do, and potentially if you come back such issue won't occur again.

The sad part is I was in an FC with loads of people, and none of them tried to contact me. I'm assuming they took his side, which is so much worse since his position was completely unhinged, and now I'm the bad guy by default for leaving. Today was maps. I would've gone, but I got harassed into quitting the FC to have a quiet space. It just makes me sad. You forge friendships for nothing.

Like I said I was on the brink of leaving and with this it's like why bother? Now I more than likely need to swap servers just to avoid the issue creeping up again. And I shouldn't have to do that. First I had to leave Maduin because of a stalker and now Halicarnassus might be over with for me because of drama. I freaking hate this crap.
