Pretty sure FFXI has better holiday events than FFXIV. They used to be way better and look like they put some effort into them. Think they must be running out of ideas and that's why the game is getting more and more boring.

FF11 does have better holiday events. In ff11 just for the Halloween event alone they have a couple minigames for you to do like hunting for pumpkins in various zones in random corners of the zones similar to an easter egg hunt for rewards and other minigames. And you can get previous years Halloween event rewards at an npc.

I like FFXIV because well... It respects me as a person. If I only want to do the weekly grind, then I can be in and done in a few hours and leave the rest alone. But apart from that? There is so much random stuff to do, and if nothing else pvp is somewhat enjoyable.

But sure, if you have everything leveled up that you care about, done all the content as it came out for the full run of the game and so on. Yeah I can see it being boring to some, personally I sometimes run new game+ sometimes make new characters all together and so forth... It really is just what it is tbh.

WoW is the only MMO that has a active content cycle atm, but that shit is just stressful to me. And the game completely lacks soul since like 2008. FFXIV might be a bit more piecemeal but there is stuff there, bozja, eureka etc, and we are getting several new field activities in Dawn Trail from the looks of things.

I dunno, I'm fairly content with what is on offer, and it gives me room for other games in my library to be played instead of just playing the same MMO day in and day out.

I disagree, they don't respect you as a person because they don't respect you paying for a product after a certain point.

Any game with a back catalogue of content is going to feel like there's plenty to do. For those of us who have either been with the game from the beginning or have done all the old content we get, at most, a few weeks of content a year.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect something more than what we're getting now; given what we used to get when the game had far fewer players.

As a whole this game is a joke with its content pipeline and is easily outshined by other games in the genre.

There's free to play games that put out better seasonal events and there's other pay to play MMOs like WoW which puts out WAY more content WAY more quickly than SE does.

Nearly everyone I know who used to play has stopped. I occasionally get asked if anything fun is going on in the game and I say no its the same old stuff that you do in a week and then have nothing more to do for 4 and a half months or longer.

It's no stretch of the imagination to say SE is completely dropping the ball in every way with XIV. Sure, this could be seen as just one minor aspect to the game but its just one of the many issues which leads to the larger issue of having long, extended durations of content droughts.

I dont understand why FF 14 has the worst events from all the MMO's I've played
Its like they dont bother at all to make it good. WoW does it better, Guild Wars does it better, RIFT DOES IT BETTER!!!! it blows my mind that we cant get a good holiday event with fun activities... I'm so close on unsubing from this game. im tired of the lazy crap

Bro I grew up playing nothing but f2p mmos and they've all done events better than this. Even maplestory, a game where literally all you do is grind and hang out, had the sense to implement events that lasted longer than 11 minutes. Events that encouraged people to play the game. I think the closest thing we have to a recurring event like that in this game are mogtomes and yokai watch. But with mogtomes, they made it all dependent on which dozen or so pieces of content they decide to bring to the table, and this time it's mostly boring stuff from heavensward/arr. And yokai watch is just fates. Fates for days. It amazes me how they can be so bad at this, but it doesn't matter; people will keep defending it and buying it and buying all the mogslop as well.

They haven't made anything genuinely new for this game in ages. Everything is just "click NPC and watch cutscene" or "run a dungeon then click NPC and watch cutscene." And yet new content takes longer than and longer every cycle. They just have no idea what they want to do, so everything is lowest common denominator tedium.

Anyways, I disagree. I do like playing this game, but that's the thing. Doing the haunted house instances with three people that are eating and sniffing glue was not fun, same the the valentine maze. I would love if they gave us some permanent content, I just think it's a waste of resources to put something in that is annoying and I have to do it within this arbitrary amount of time.

I highly doubt your friends quit because they didn't have the exhilarating gameplay of hitting sprint and one other action in the halloween instance...

My friends quit because they had absolutely nothing to do and because the events were reduced to simple cutscenes as two of the reasons.
We were there when the rising event was a fighting quest line in Ul’Dah. We were there when we got the awesome 8bit labyrinth mini game as well.

Make fun of it all you want but there are people that actually want to play this game and don’t despair because they don’t get instant rewards in an event. There are people that actually don’t get nightmares because they wonder if they manage to play an event for more than 10 minutes or miss out on the rewards.
You are the one who defends getting no content in a video game and used the word FOMO.
I seriously don’t understand where the fear of missing out is coming from when you have to do more than a single cutscene.
You also reduce all to the haunted mansion and other people failing when we had far more in the past even single player style.

And for the one and done problem you have.
No one forces the devs to not bring this content back if only in the gold saucer.
So that is a problem on them.

Yes because cutting the seasonal events 6 years ago back to this beige garbage has certainly got us more repeatable content
