It sucks because FFXIV has the metagame, community (specifically my FC), and legacy relevance that I want from an MMO, but WoW has the combat, class design, and long-term playability that I want from an MMO.

I enjoy and hate both for different reasons, and no other MMO even comes close to scratching my brain itch.

Well it’s called content drought and back they increase the wait time between patches because of corona so we get polished content. Expect you know bugs and stuff not working and we are not in corona times anymore so maybe they should do old patch times. I mean 52 bucks until new content is out and for unpolished content is kinda uff. And I do play wow in the meantime and I actually have too heal as a healer. Yeah maybe class balancing is not that great but the classes do have good Identity.

I like that the seasonal stuff is short and sweet. I don't want in-depth limited time events that cause FOMO. If they're going to make something elaborate and special it should be saved for things that are permanently in game, not stuff that we'll get to do once. The only way I'd be ok with more time going into it is if they let you get the items the next time the event comes around, and we know they're not going to do that because they put the seasonal stuff in the cash shop.

This. And the things that they did spend a bit more time and effort on usually are brought back, like the haunted house, or the tea party area in Gridania for screenshots.

We are talking about the Halloween dungeon that one year where you had to dodge ghosts for example.
This is still an MMO after all.

It’s really sad to see other people celebrating how this game has turned out nowadays just because they can’t be bothered to play more than 20 minutes a week while still wanting all of the rewards.

Anyways, I disagree. I do like playing this game, but that's the thing. Doing the haunted house instances with three people that are eating and sniffing glue was not fun, same the the valentine maze. I would love if they gave us some permanent content, I just think it's a waste of resources to put something in that is annoying and I have to do it within this arbitrary amount of time.

I highly doubt your friends quit because they didn't have the exhilarating gameplay of hitting sprint and one other action in the halloween instance...

Oh hey, no "it has always been this way" argument yet. Yeah, the events suck. Honestly, the rewards from them also suck lately. I tend to completely forget about them half the time. I wish it wasn't the case but at this point it's no surprise.

Pretty sure FFXI has better holiday events than FFXIV. They used to be way better and look like they put some effort into them. Think they must be running out of ideas and that's why the game is getting more and more boring.
