When will Dynamis ever compare…?

… to the population and communities that the other data centers have? I’ve vague recollections of folks claiming that the ‘flood of new players’ from Danwtrail’s release would cause the servers to flow with - at the minimum - moderate activity. But so far everything remains dead-ish. The duty roulettes pop - but beyond that I don’t really sense much in the way of liveliness.

And with access to Aether severely limited - will more players jump ship the moment that data center opens?

I’m struggling to puzzle out what’s going on and why Dynamis feels like such a ‘nothing burger’ overall. Or am I just being impatient and it still needs a couple of more years to develop?

The big problem is that Data Center travel and some DCs being known for certain activities(Aether for raiding, Primal for PvP, Balmung exactly for ERP, etc) means that if you are a Dynamis character and want to do those things, the community encourages you to go to those DCs instead of staying in Dynamis, so even if Dynamis has a high enough number of raiders to sustain a population, it's never going to materialize because those raiders are all in Aether or Primal, it leads to a vicious cycle that is really difficult to break, and it isn't even truly SE's fault, they recent DC travel limitations were meant to discourage this behavior, but they just made inconvenient to play the game.

They'd have to do something to encourage raiding in your home DC, positive reinforcement over negative ones, but I couldn't tell you what that is.

I was traveling to Dynamis regularly for S ranks when Dawntrail released. What I witnessed there was a very lively data center, with people traveling from all over to play with their friends, RP, recruit to FCs, do the usual things they do at all the city states like Bard music. Roulettes popped, which I think is more than could be said when it was new.

As for whether it will ever be like other data centers, yes. I used to be on Crystal, which got some of the most dead worlds from Aether and Primal and merged them together. Many of the people that were diverted to Crystal by SE decided to transfer back to Aether, leaving Crystal comparatively less populated. It still had established players and FCs who remained, giving it an advantage over how Dynamis is, but its population was comparatively lower than, say, Aether.

At some point, I think at EW release, that changed and Crystal regularly surpassed Aether and Primal in active population and still often does. This was probably thanks to Aether being given Congested status a lot, but it shows that given time, data centers grow.

There is the rather universal issue of "people traveling to Aether to raid" that is an issue for all NA data centers, and will likely hinder Dynamis a lot, but it will still slowly improve over time.

I should mention that your character is on Golem though. There are Dynamis worlds that are further along than others due to being around longer. Seraph often gets Congested status for example.

Seraph was the go-to RP world when Dynamis first released, and I believe it is purely because the name sounds cool, I personally picked Marilith for similarly silly reason, being that Marilith is one of the Four Fiends in Final Fantasy 1, and it felt right to pick a server whose name I felt a connection with, it also amused me when Dynamis also got Kraken, though it is a shame Tiamat is in Japan, and Lich and Chaos in Europe, the FF1 big bad team is scattered all over the planet...

When they shut off DC travel and restrict transferring.

This is a player problem. Player A talks up another server. Player B follows them. Player C has to wait 40 minutes for a queue. So they join A and B. Dead server. It's not that bold of a leap in logic. It's never going to get better as long as selfish players take shortcuts.

The players made the serves x, y, and z, not the developers. Any Aether server is exactly the same as any Dynmais server. The only difference is the prestige of the name. That's it.

DC travel is a net positive for the player and a net negative for the game. Because the side effect of it is dead servers.

They failed to seed Dynamis properly. They should have done it like they did crystal and taken a few worlds from every other DC to put in Dynamis and given a replacement new world to each of those to replace it.
3 populated worlds would have done a lot to fill out the queues and populate content at the start, and stop the death spiral Dynamis is currently in.

DC Travel didn't help but it's pimarily an SE failing, they didn't get the DC started correctly and it shows.

To answer the question, probably never right now. They funnel new players into Dynamis currently but the general advice everyone tells them is to pay to move to aether or crystal ASAP, there needs to be either a real pull to stay there beyond the initial xp boost.

I primarily play on Dynamis and came from another DC and in the time I have been here (about 3 months) it has become quite active. Our FC has 27 members and 15 of them are on almost everyday. Most of them were very new players who joined the FC I play in and now they are nearly done with the MSQ. We do a lot of maps and support the friendly community event people. We started a CWLS for activities to keep players on Dynamis for maps and roulettes. Outside of pvp roulette, I make it a point to do 100% of roulettes on my native world.

I think it will appear more lively if people just decide to start taking this kind of approach. I WILL say the markets are all over the place tho. When I first moved here I made about 7 million gil selling furniture, that would have equated to about 500k on other dc's on a "good"day.

I wish I had an answer, but it seems never. For some reason, Dynamis never took off - at all. And as long as there is DC travel, folks will keep creating characters on Aether, Crystal and Primal. Honestly, world integration needs to happen and soon. Dissolve Dynamis and split the new worlds among the three other DCs. I am thankfully on Seraph, which is the most populated, but it is still a ghost town. It was sad for me when everyone left after DT.

Crystal took off because they split off already populated servers from Aether and Primal to birth Crystal rather than starting from scratch IMO.

Between DC travel and not having already established communities Dynamis is basically doomed unless there's some extreme measures taken (DC Travel cut, even more incentivizes to re-roll on Dynamis including having progression groups done there although I dunno how they'd ensure such groups were legit).

Sorry jumping off topic here because I like this fluff: The four fiends were scattered across FF1's world too, so it ironically fits in a lore perspective.
