Yeah, that level 80 or less earring is pretty useless for my main character, considering the new jobs start there.
But I'm happy other returning players can take advantage of it, if they didn't pre-order an expansion 3 years ago.
I think we can safely add the achievement vendor to the "abandoned features"-list considering it hasn't been updated in about 3 years.
To be honest, yeah, I agree! There is a few exclusive dated items (especially the old glasses) that I would love to get, and it's a bit odd that you cannot get them any other way than that.Personally think 1.0 doesn't need many exclusive items as the 1.0 players already have an exclusive reduced subscription cost...
I am quite biased however, as I would not mind having the other fomo emotes/items tied to statues/books etc (which I have and are expensive) being made available for cheap on the mog station.
(These are my opinions)
Aside from this, I actually managed to get a 1.0 sealed copy a few months ago with the garlond goggles code still working. I wouldn't really mind having them in the shop, but i don't know if anyone will ever purchase them because these look *oooold*.
It's literally fine. It gives less benefits than just flat out buying a boost. XIV players are more doomer than WoW ones.
The real problem is highlighted in the second post of this thread- The money is almost guaranteed to be wasted on some other side game instead of the only thing making Square enix any sort of revenue.
I don’t remember when it was added or if I’m misremembering, but he’s the guy who hands out the grandmaster caster and world class troller plate items (presumably also the majong one)
I think it's a good thing tbh, and I own the earring, as well as the ones for Shadowbringers and Stormblood. If anything, I'd like to see the ARR and Heavensward preorder items added to the store as well.
I've never been a big believer in exclusivity via FOMO, it's why I'll also advocate for the statue emotes either being added to the cash shop, or the figures themselves being made available on a permanent basis on the store. The same goes for other items such as the Carbuncle plushes and the various Blu-Ray's.
Jonathas is about as old as achiements themselves so he's at least existed since 2.0, probably since 1.0 even. Originally you had to visit him to claim any achiement rewards since you couldn't just grab them from the menu itself.
At some point they added the achiement currency, likely when they removed the old veteran reward system and shifted those items into his inventory for you to buy with said currency, slowly adding new items to it.
But the only updates he has gotten to his inventory since 5.0 are adventurer plate kits tied to ocean fishing, mahjong and the rare fish achievement, which most people can't even see.
That's also where my assumption came from that he hasn't been updated in 3 years since I didn't even know he had those plate designs.

They moved a lot of the achievement rewards directly to the achievement menu when they redesigned that awhile back, so I didn’t realize they were still adding to his inventory either! I’ll have to see whether I got that ocean fishing achievement or not…But the only updates he has gotten to his inventory since 5.0 are adventurer plate kits tied to ocean fishing, mahjong and the rare fish achievement, which most people can't even see.
