    new platform dilemma

Sooo, I've ordered a ps5 which is coming soon and from what I've read when it comes to ffxiv is you can only ever link 1 PlayStation account to a square enix account - which now brings me to my thread post

I cant decide what to do between the following 3 things:

    1. buy the complete edition on PlayStation and link my main account so I can play my main character on pc and ps5

    2. download the trial version on ps5 and make a new square enix account to then have a new character on perma trial as a sorta twisted hard-mode where I have limited gil and have to be self-sufficient when it comes to crafting for example or having to rely on duty finder for everything

    3. same as above but grab the starter edition so I can trade, use party finder and use marketboard

so if you was me, what one would you pick and why

I don't really understand what your goal is. Why not linking your main account with your PSN account and just create a new character on that account if you want to play a new character?

Link your existing SE account to your PSN account. Or just don't link them at all, but keep the option available to link your main accounts together.

For the free trial version you can create a second PSN account, no reason to get rid of the option to link your main accounts together. But overall it's a bad idea because you will never be able to put both your characters onto the same SE account and you potentially have to pay two subs in the future if you get attached to your trial character and want to play it more.

There is no reason to buy the starter edition and have to pay two subs.

It’s a good thing not to answer your enemies. I scarcely ever do. Perhaps Emily is more like me than I am like myself. Perhaps she would rather not answer her friends, even. She keeps it all in her heart.

    Hey,

If your going from PS4 to PS5 then all you have to do is download the PS5 client from the PS store and log in. PS4 to PS5 was a free upgrade. If you do this I would also suggest saving your hotbars and job set ups with the upload option on PS4 which is located with the top right cog icon on the character screen as upload. Then on the PS5 version in the same cog icon select download settings.

If it's PC to PS5 then same applies, download the PS5 client on the PS5 only this time you will need to buy the expansions again (you can try log in first but you will likely get an error message.. worth a shot though) for the PS5 license (there's two separate licences between PS5 and PC) - once done try to log in on PS5 it will link your account. I'm unsure if there's a save option for your set ups for jobs - it's worth a look.

If your on the free trial just download the Free Trial PS5 version in the PS Store and you should be good to go.

I didn't save my settings from PS4 to PS5 and I was sat for around 2 hours resorting my hotbars and Jobs as it resets them all. So that should save you some time.

    Hope that helped.

Sorry for double post. (Joy's of mobile)

In answer to your question - which I've obviously totally misread. I'd buy the expansions (money permitting) so you have your main character on the license you get.

This way you can just make an alt and do the challenge stuff.

If you buy the Free trial, you won't be able to play your main character on PS5 and believe me, it's much nicer sitting on my sofa than in a PC chair.

Definatly look into the hotbar and job upload and download though, saves time. GL

Keep in mind that SE accounts are linked to PSN accounts, so if you ever wanna play your PC character on console, you'd need an entirely different PSN account for it.

I'd just register my original account to the PlayStation 5.

Seems to me having a dummy PS5 account for a trial challenge would be the smarter play than to permanently lock yourself out of your main.
