The Hunt Small Windows on A ranks - it is too easy now.

It may sound harsh, but the A Trains kind of is off what the hunt should be about.

All the A ranks Spawn and stay active untill killed, but I would like a limited being alive period before despawning, for eg. like 10-15 minutes, making the hunt more spread out and much more local content, however maybe a bit more often spawn rate, if eg. the zone is more active and the likes.

There is hardly any challenge or fun in it now than a mindless grind and jumping from server to server...

Also, it would make people or those who is interested in it more engaged in the hunt, because now its just a bunch of people who barely what it is about other than flocking to a target, also, if some people decide to take on a an A rank they more or less get shamed and is told off by waiting for the train and the likes directly in conflict with the eg. the ToS to be like that.

A ranks (like all enemies) do despawn but it takes a whole 24 hours.

The type of hunts that only stay alive for a few minutes are S ranks. Players spend hours/days trying to spawn them, executing their spawn conditions repeatedly in hopes it will spawn. Eventually, someone succeeds at spawning it and lots of people fight it. If you stick to your own world only, then it is "local" content.

You're right that the majority of people just "flock" to a target, but back when the hunt system was less popular, not many people really cared about A ranks. On my previous world, we used to spend an hour just finding and killing 12 hunts. We longed for the day when more people actually cared about hunts, and now they do, thanks to hunt trains becoming a thing, which we sold to people as the most efficient way to cap tomestones.

The difference with a hunt train is someone finds all of the hunts in advance, allowing them to package it up as a "hunt train" with 120 tomestones that makes more people interested than just saying "let's fight 1 hunt together for 10 tomestones".

Anyway, if someone really wants to fight a hunt in a small party there's really no harm in it. Dawntrail has 36 A ranks on each world and there are 8 worlds... they won't miss 1 hunt if you're determined to fight it as a small party.

If all you want to see is the mechanics, just got to do it when there's a low turnout in the morning/night, late in the week (thursday or friday), during patch lulls (which we are in right now).

I think the only way it could become truly local content is if they make A ranks and S ranks like maps. Have a hunt bill for them, except it's for 8 people and they fly to the spawn points to get a spawn.

They do despawn after 24 hours if not killed. We've seen that happen many times, including mid train if there had been no one available to conduct in the last day.

That said, I generally agree with the idea that the massive trains have taken the hunt out of the Hunt for all but those who coordinate the trains. Considering the train complaints have existed for several years now with suggestions on how to break them, I doubt SE is interested in making any changes.

As for players wanting to kill a Rank A they've randomly come across, they should do it. Anyone attempting to shame them for not leaving it to a train is the one who risks trouble with the TOS. A train isn't going to be ruined if 4 or 5 out of 36 are missing - assuming a train even gets run before they've had time to respawn.

Doesn't that show how "interested" in doing hunts the community is? They rather not do hunts when there's not that one person who looks for them in advance instead of going out in the maps and looking for the hunts themself.

it's not so much that they're not interested. There can also be fear of retaliation by the hunt community. Almost all hunts are organised through discord or through linkshells run by the discord people. There are worlds/DCs where the mods will kick/ban you if you pull or kill "their" mark and all of a sudden once you're blacklisted it's exponentially harder to get information to be able to do the activity.

I think some might find this a contentious perspective, but IMO they do need reworking.

I only join hunt trains for tomes and sometimes do the arr hunts for tele tickets. The content itself is not even considered a hunt compared to NMs from ff11 where killing and rewards are worthwhile.
