    the would mean leaving the FC im in with the friends that got me into XIV and losing my private quarters in the FC as well

    That is, unfortunately, the reality of buying a house in this game. You need to go where the supply is.

    You can keep those friendships with cross dc travel, or you can make an alt and give them the money to purchase the house for you.

    Aye to add to this since the OP seems to already have a FC house with their FC mates I would strongly suggest a private small to start - get your foot in the door as even I lived in the same small for 3 years before moving into a much nicer medium.
