But how else are they gonna fund games such as Babylon's Fall, Forspoken and Foam Stars? Cause it doesn't seem like the cash shop money goes back into the game we're playing. Only thing I recall they said was tied to the money from the cash shop was moving the EU servers from Canada to Europe. After that there hasn't been anything in the patches that make me think "I can really feel the increased budget with those cash shop money", it's almost the opposite.

But their cash shop is getting worse and worse. Remember that we once got all the Stormblood patch artwork as posters during a The Rising event? They've just released posters for ARR and HW, directly to the cash shop for £9.25 for a 5-set, and you can't even buy them as singles, unlike some of the previous posters.

If anyone complaining about this go play fortnite and pso2 come back to me about emote monotization...pso2 is worse some emotes are 90.00 due to reward bonus... 7.00 looking cheap...one emote i believe was almost 200.00 and u had 1 week to get it.

The difference there is that Fortnite is a f2p game. FFXIV is buy to play AND you have to pay a subscription on top of that. I don't like the aggressive monetization, either. Especially since we know SE will funnel that money into NFT garbage and similar things instead of reinvesting it back into their main cash cow.

don't forget that 100% of the cosmetic and motion are I'm the ticket system too and if you don't pay the season pass doesn't even give you anything so last option it to play and player sell it for 7m minimum

Gonna quote something I said in another thread a while back:

I remember at Stormblood's launch we got a bunch of new emotes (facial expressions and swimming emotes were immediately accessible). Nowadays it feels like we're lucky to get one emote per patch. I don't think we got any at launch for Dawntrail... did we? What gives, SE?

Like, the other day when I was doing the side quests in Kozama'uka I got a little bummed when I saw the Hanuhanu do their short "hands-above-the-head" greeting because I was like "cool. so that's probably going to be the one emote we get for their beast tribe in about 8 months".

But hey, maybe if we're good we'll get our seventh non-persistent /eat emote in the form of /eattaco?

You do realize pso2 ngs has a sub.... you need a sub to even use the store to sell items that cost real money locked behind a loot box with a chance ur ok with those emotes being 60 - 100 yet your here crying about an optional emote many ppl could careless about.... man ff14 player quality is crap.... XD i need to remember this is same forum that was crying dawn trail was too hard.

It's always disheartening when you finally get a new emote in the game you've spent hundreds or even thousands of dollars on and it's just some random background npc's idle animation from 2 expansions ago.

But whales gonna whale, then they'll insecurely recite some variation of "don't like it don't buy it" when you express discontent like that's an actual argument. It's so unbelievably tiresome and depressing seeing people trip over themselves to defend anti-consumer practices while blowing next month's rent on a fornite dance emote and a shirt with cleavage and then turning around and being smug and condescending about it.
