I would hope they wouldn't lock all of their info for display...I mean, getting interest in the game should be one of the top priorities. And I notice when big-time youtubers cover mmo's in beta, it helps with hype.

I apologize if this has been covered. If it has, I'll more than willingly accept a lock and redirection to the thread that contains this information.
What a fresh change to the hot topics... a post with relevance

Like Nefario says though, it will likely be our input that helps to hype the game up... SE can only brag about it so much...

I think gamers will listen to gamers before a company.

Having said that, I've seen a gradual increase in fan videos of late, which is nice

This could be a little off-topic, but I suppose it's similar.

Considering it seems that the current players who are subscribed are not entitled to beta access when the time comes, is it possible for SE in the meantime to release some sort of character creation, like what PSO2 did, for those who didn't get in then? At least to bide us some time and to mess around with it so we're not locked on the character creation screen for hours at launch.

I'm speaking for myself, but I take my sweet time when it comes to customization. I want my character to look awesome, so if there's any way to prefire their looks before launch so that the only thing I can reference is the completed model I did on the character creation program, that'll be dandy. I'm not talking about transferring, just being able to know what to choose when retail hits and not banging your head on the wall not having a clue on what race/gender/class/etcetc to go by.

Besides, it could also work as a treat for those interested in 2.0. Like, instead of the proposed benchmark, let it be a benchmark AND character creator.

If there isn't a message like this:

I'm going to be pretty disappointed.
