This is what I meant to comment to… can’t edit on phone in 2024 ^^^^^Inaccurate. While they can't prevent it, they can take steps to limit the damage or outright mitigate it. There are a lot of companies that specialize in this type of service. And given that We all know Tuesday, Friday and Saturday are heavy DDOS days and have been for a few months now it is quite clear they are doing nothing.
Simple answer - I haven't experienced any of this. From what I'm hearing, it's mainly later hours on the west coast? So perhaps because I'm on the east coast and play earlier in the evening, I just haven't been online when any of this has occurred. So I'm not getting d/c'd at peak hours, I can do PotD just fine, I'm not interested in Savage/Ult raiding, etc.. Basically, if it weren't for the DDOS being mentioned on this forum, I wouldn't even know it exists. So, why am I not satisfied with my money again? How can you possibly be satisfied PAYING $15USD a month. Thats a MONTHLY subscription, for a service that gets DDOS'd, disconnects you every 5 minutes at peak hours, making content like PoTD impossible. Making Savage/Ult raiding extremely irritating, and painful to clear.
Sad to say, but this kind of approach is just going to leave you frustrated and disappointed in life. Practically every "service" in existence that you sign up for includes clauses where you acknowledge that things can happen outside of the servicer's control and that you hold them harmless. And while I'm thinking (hoping) you're exaggerating, and if you're really at the point where you don't care how bad a disaster might actually be happening somewhere, all that matters is if you get to play a game...perhaps expanding one's worldview might be in order.I don't care if the 8th umbral calamity is happening in Japan. I don't care if there is a zombie outbreak, and zombies are assaulting the server facilities. I'm paying for access to their game. If they cannot provide a stable service, we should not be expected to pay full price. Basic customer support.
Just curious - did you just, like, hear this word somewhere and start throwing it around with little regard for anything? Because if there even is "brainrot" in this thread, I don't think it lies where you think it lies...The brainrot required to defend SE on this is staggering honestly.
Also happening in hours when no one is hardly on. Yesterday I was playing between 1am and 3am PST and got almost disconnected from one.
Okay dude I have enough of this. I understand you want to defend a big company, but saying that DDoS attacks are solely the players' problem isn’t fair or accurate. DDoS attacks target the game servers, which are managed by the company. Players don’t have the ability to prevent or defend against these attacks, and it’s unrealistic to expect them to.Sounds like people need to stop talking about "brainrot" and go back to school for lessons in critical thinking.
No, they are not responsible for anything and everything that could interrupt your connection to the service. SE is responsible for keeping their servers running and they've done that.
You are responsible for your connection to the service. SE has no control over how you choose to connect.
Fix your connection problem. Start with your ISP to see if they will route your connection around the trouble node. If they won't do that, you can use a VPN service to reroute it yourself.
Or you can keep complaining in the forums about this and get nowhere because there is nothing wrong with the game servers. This is your problem, not their problem.
It’s the responsibility of the company running the game to invest in proper security measures to mitigate these attacks. Things like DDoS protection services, server redundancy, and better network infrastructure are all within the company's control. Players are here to enjoy the game, not manage the server security.
While it’s unfortunate that these attacks happen, the company needs to take action to defend its players from them. Blaming the players who are affected by these disruptions doesn't solve the problem or make the gaming experience better. If the servers belong to another company trust then they still manage them, hell even if not they pay money that speeks louder then words. You can't tell me they can't do anything about it, they simply don't want to because other stuff is " more important " for them.
just like people said they target servers themself not people because I never get disconnected at all I have the strongest connection and the highest service. there is only two ways for me to lose connection one DDoS and second is well power failure where I live I do understand why you think that but some people survive a DDoS attack It have happen to me a couple time and other I don't.Sounds like people need to stop talking about "brainrot" and go back to school for lessons in critical thinking.

You cannot also blame only one person when they're is a full que of 600+ people trying to reconnect at the same time so even denying the fact there is DDoS attack and blaming it on players end is kinda low thinking.
SE isn't to blame completely but like I said we are paying customers still.
the ratio of DDoS before DT was around once or twice a year sometime more since DT it have been 5 a month sometime if not more so be mindful I do not say you are stupid but you might be the lucky one that doesn't get disconnected and on that curse you lucky person!
and VPN doesn't work all the time on DDoS attack sadly I always have it active and I still get booted if you blame my internet it just mean you lack the understanding.
your experience isn't everyone experience keep that in mind instead of blaming player thanks you for understanding that you aren't alone in this world if you answer me back be respectful and have proof for what you are saying next
You people aren't listening. They aren't targeting the FFXIV servers. They are targeting the nodes.
It's like a traffic jam stopping you from getting to the movies, not the cinema cancelling the showing.
nodes nor servers it affect the games still sadly that's also the other point I wouldn't be paying a monthly sub I wouldn't care much but I do so I care you also have to understand that and I mostly rant too.
have to understand to that it is part of there job still that people like it or not ok I do understand it cannot be like a 100% protection and people on console cannot fight those back either and Xbox player have to pay a monthly sub for both to be able to play too so node or not it is a problem no matter what
It is a problem, but you're complaining to the wrong people. Just like the cinema can't do anything about traffic, Square Enix can't do anything about American internet service providers.nodes nor servers it affect the games still sadly that's also the other point I wouldn't be paying a monthly sub I wouldn't care much but I do so I care you also have to understand that and I mostly rant too.

okay tell where to complain then ? let me do the job of SE they should complain there ...
