that's why the idea of free sub day wouldn't be a bad idea to get as like a sorry that we get them back to back

Put into perspective that Microsoft Azure has DAILY security patches which often cause connectivity issues in while small but frequent windows.
Consider that restricting the routes of attack for a DDOs would ALSO introduce latency into the content you cited prior.
You are paying to use FFXIV - as per ToS you accept that sometimes; sh*t happens. You agree to this and the downtime it entails; you have patch days where you are deprived hours of gameplay.
When SE has a DDOS; thats your problem because you accepted that there might be times you won't be able to play - it would suck for you to go; but you paid in advance.
When SE has server netcode issues; again thats actually your problem and SE does what they can to mitigate that problem because they want you to continue to subscribe - you do a value assessment to whether a hour of Downtime due to bad-actors/act of god, etc is worth continuing to pay for. SE tries to do SOME actions in good faith - such as delaying demolition because recently some American's have had their homes wiped off the map...SE is not required to do this but they try to be understanding that as before Sh*t happens.
When Yoshi-P spills his coffee in the server-room and no one is around - no one cares because who leaves servers exposed enough that a spill would wipe out your IT infrastructure...and who would drink coffee in rooms thats are either colder then a witches teet or hotter then heck and under the blaring sounds of HVAC systems.
Your service is being provided within realistic expectations - while I understand your frustration; IF you have a committed party out to cause trouble for SE; then ultimately its going to take a long time to resolve and we have to understand its not like SE can tell you the steps they are taking so that bad actors can then enact new counter-measures.
The people you should be taking issues with are the criminals; SE is in fact the victim in this scenario and for reference it HAS happened in Japan MANY times.

Downtimes for maintenance and patches are known in advance, done during off peak hours (which I hate cause I get off work then lol) and have specified start and end times. These are disruptions that are a part of the game for sure. Every once and awhile emergency maintenance is needed to fix a catastrophic error. These are also know in advance though usually with a lot less notice and are also a part of the game. These are things we agree too because these downtimes improve out play experience by making the game have new stuff to do it actually work the way its suppose toYou are paying to use FFXIV - as per ToS you accept that sometimes; sh*t happens. Power outages, natural disasters, Network provider outages and a whole host of other things that could kill SE's ability to run the servers for a period of time are also acceptable risk we the subscriber take. Provided SE does whatever they can to resume the service in these events it is fine
DDOSing is one such event and there is no reason to believe SE is doing anything to prevent disruption. This is not fine and should it contiune, is going to show all you people just how worthless TOS/EULA's really are here
I don't care if Square Enix is a victim. Again, where is that my problem?
I'm paying $15usd a month. Thats the end of my problems. SE has to hold up their side, which is providing a stable, functioning service.
If some criminals are ruining their business, thats Square Enixes problem, and Square Enixes problem ALONE.
If zombies are invading Japan and interupting their business, Not my problem either.
If their headquarters catches on fire and everything burns down, still not my problem either.
How about realistic customer service? Basic stuff. You have issues with your service, which I am paying for, and I'm no way responsible for any of the issues going on with your service, you compensate ALL affected players. (Something they did during the outright disasterous launch of 6.0) What if your ISP decided, you know what? I'm cutting your internet connection every 5 minutes, for 2 months, during peak hours. This is a billion dollar company. It is not hurting their bottom line to compensate us with game time for the issues they've failed to address.
They've been dealing with it since May.

Honestly is there any reason to suspect they are lying? Frankly I am surprised at the sheer length and persistence of these DDOS attempts; based on what is being seen on Netscout I think FFXIV is actually going into record breaking territory for DDOS attempts on a MMO.
Its your problem because your the one being inconvenienced - if it wasn't you would not be complaining.I don't care if Square Enix is a victim. Again, where is that my problem?

It sounds like you're the type of person who is satisfied with spending all sorts of money and getting poor service in return. A joke really. But you go on and defend that billion dollar corporation. They've such innocent victims it's really a tragedy, someones got to think of the little guy with billions of dollars!
Some people on here are just ready to defend this company at all cost like their own life depends on it, not the first time not the last, how dare you criticize a multi billions dollar company. It sounds like you're the type of person who is satisfied with spending all sorts of money and getting poor service in return. Those exact same people are the ones that will eventually run this game to the ground, because they never hold them accountable for anything.

I bet they're the same people purchasing the $88usd blind box fridge magnets. Honestly they deserve to have every last penny milked out of them by Square Enix.
So did you get your money back?
