Honestly she doesn't bother me any more than the Mary Sue that ended up being Krile.
Honestly she doesn't bother me any more than the Mary Sue that ended up being Krile.
She ended up being the super secret special child of the super important people from the realm we happen to be going to have the super special earing with the data we also just happened to need. Not to mention she has the painter job which they seem determined to make the most powerful of all jobs to ensure it is played.
Yeah, and we got that "super special secret reveal" way late into the game where it was barely a footnote before we moved on, and she didn't even get to use her super special earring, she had to give it to the damn mamool ja kid to use (it was such a slap in the face to her cool moment that I actually just laughed out loud in shock when it happened, it was so ridiculous. She can't even use her own McGuffin!) I would not call that a Mary Sue by any stretch, and no matter what character they picked to be the Pictomancer poster child, I doubt that would have changed how the job played. She ended up being the super secret special child of the super important people from the realm we happen to be going to have the super special earing with the data we also just happened to need. HMMM well. As others have said, I'm pretty sure being a leader means she can't be a scion. HOWEVER. I absolutely would NOT put it past them to still shoe-horn her into being a scion anyway. If they do that, then that will 100% show that the writing is irredeemably bad. There's still room right now for some to be on the fence, but if they did that, I feel like even the most stubborn fence sitter would have to come down to the ground and admit that the story is free-falling, and no one writing anything for this game truly cares anymore.
If wuk becomes a scion, I would just leave a terrible review and then proceed to skip all story from that point forward until they fired the current writers and hired entirely new ones or brought back ones that previously did a great job and had nothing to do with any of Dawntrail's creation.
She'll be around until 7.3, then the plot will move on to setting up 8.0 and she'll stay behind, only showing up once in a while to remind us that Tural exists. Maybe she can go hang out with Hien in the "shows up to Eorzean Alliance meetings despite not actually being from Eorzea" corner.
Leaders don't end up becoming Scions. Only exception is Lyse, and even then that's only because she was a Scion before getting involved in the events of Stormblood. After the MSQ has wrapped up for the area, Wuk will follow the same path as all young leaders before her (Aymeric, Hien, etc) and be forced to focus her attentions on solidifying that peace she loves to talk about so much by doing her job in her region.
On a similar topic, even if she somehow wasn't leader anymore, I feel like she wouldn't really be up-to-snuff to be a Scion if we're following the game itself. In general Scions are very knowledgeable in their respective fields and have unique abilities/distinctions that set them apart from everyone else. Wuk doesn't qualify for this, she's just your more-energetic-than-average person with no particularly unique knowledge (she barely had knowledge of her own homeland). Lyse was kind of on the low end of that meter (and also always paired with Papalymo) and feel like she basically just snuck into the Scions by literally posing as her sister.
Hien, who could really be doing something about the sex trafficking in his nation that caused the creation of someone like Yotsuyu but would rather hang out at the cool kids' table. She'll be around until 7.3, then the plot will move on to setting up 8.0 and she'll stay behind, only showing up once in a while to remind us that Tural exists. "Well, it's no Vana'diel, but it'll have to do..."
How is a character that hardly got any screentime considered a mary sue but wuk lamat who hogged 90% of the screentime not a mary sue. I don't see how krile was the "poster child" of dawntail. Krile was relegated to being seen in the background and when she had a chance to shine wuk lamat stole the spotlight because all the attention needed to be on her.
That is when the true Vana'diel of legend will be reborn.
And we would know from all of that time we've spent in Doma since Stormblood ended. That whole....one role quest.
They might, they do not take feedback into account. Its a very "mother knows best" structure here
