I fully agree, I really question not just lowering the company level requirement on Squadrons to the first one, they already cover a lot of older optional dungeons and in my own opinion it seems like a waste of development time to make Duty Support when the Squadron system already covers something. I understand squadrons take a bit more effort and are a bit more janky to operate but still seems like an odd choice.

Agreed. Squadrons are more fun than Trust/Duty Support because they’re customizable for job, party composition, glamours and help you actually feel like a high ranking GC officer instead of just having a title that lets you buy gacha boxes. They could have created training items that cost GC seals to improve and tailor your squadron, like the chocobo raising system.

I also get that doing MSQ dungeons with story NPCs is cool. So I wish they would have just kept Duty Support to MSQ dungeons and put that dev time into enabling squadrons for optional dungeons so we can play with both systems.

Squadrons should be spun out. They should be little instances about the size of guildhests. You can pop in with squadron, do a squadron specific run. Giving maybe a unique squadron reward, along the lines of random loot bags you get in other content.

They certainly did. Squadrons still use lost actions up to SB. For example, Gladiators will still use flash.
