Housing Interior Size Upgrade

During the live letter, Yoshi-P talked about a potential change for the upcoming patch cycle (past 7.1), wherein players could upgrade their house interior to that of a larger house (the example he used was a small house with a large house interior.

I'm pretty stoked for this, as it's something I've suggested a few times. Also, I hope it applies to apartments as well, because people who can't get houses deserve nice things too!

Anyone else looking forward to this?

I'm glad they removed the columns. If they remove the "interior" windows and make a more flexible placement of the stairs,
I'll finally be able to unleash my creativity without having to... you know... glitches.

In my opinion the "perfect housing" is an empty box where I can decide everything, from the height of the roof to the number of doors/windows or where place a point of light: the closer they come to this idea, the happier I am.

Everyone seems worried about the item limit of the house. They said before Dawntrail they want to increase the item limit. They wanted to double it. I was super disappointed it didn't upgrade for Dawntrail but maybe that will come at the same time as this. It'd probably be worth asking if they'll increase item capacity with the interior upgrades but at bare minimum we should already be getting an interior item increase.

Another update, which is currently under consideration, would allow players to expand the interior size of their estate; for example, a Small estate could have a Large-size interior. This change too, would hopefully allow players to enjoy decorating their estates more freely. In our current concept, expanding the interior will require gil. We do not have an implementation schedule for this feature yet, so please look forward to hearing about our progress in the future.

Finally, as we’ve previously announced, we are currently working to increase the maximum number of furnishings that can be placed in an estate. We expect it to be ready by Patch 7.2 or 7.3, so please look forward to it!

So we know it's coming. To the best of my knowledge, though, they never specifically stated it was going to be doubled. That was speculation on the part of players.

I doubt it will be doubled. They are always claiming they can't do things because of server storage capacity. If we get a boost to item limit, expect it to be no more than 100 items per house size

I'm excited for this. I've been trying to get a mansion since I started playing in 2019, no luck. Finally my medium will be a mansion inside, lol.

Now the only thing I want is 10 more outdoor item slots (for every plot size) because 30 is simply not enough in my medium, especially when I have to waste slots on convenience items like mailbox, striking dummy, mini aetherite, etc.

I hope to see increased activity in the wards since owners of smalls will soon be able to decorate the same as us that own mansions after they pay the upgrade fee. I predict 25 mil or so for a mansion size and maybe 15 mil for a medium size inside a small for example. This has me excited because now I can upgrade my solo small FC into a nice home for my alts the size of a mansion inside. My neighbors in Shiro are excited and we plan to all renovate when this is released and then invite friends and more to have a guided tour of sorts, I look forward to that :3

I just hope the furnishing limit increase is generous, for now, I'll stick with my modest prediction:

Cottage: 50 more slots inside, 5 more outside

House: 100 more slots inside, 10 more outside

Mansion: 200 more inside, 20 more outside

I’m sure they wanted to take the opportunity to clarify there, since they didn’t have a live translation of the event.

I know what you mean though… they made it sound like “interior size” would be “one or two more patches,” while the item limits didn’t have a firm date, when it was the other way around. Without knowing Japanese though, it very well could be what they originally said, and the translations were off.
