Is NICE! Looks to has very open feel with much space! Now this makes it much more attractive for getting smaller plots and Yoshi-P said for smaller plots, increasing the size will be costly. I do wonder if that also affects how many people can fit inside since I think the current cap is 100 players. Though, I did suggest something like this long ago but it was for outside too, maybe one day they do the same and have you pay lots of Gil to increase the size of your plot outside.
I hope we also get more information on the furnishing limit increases in the next LL too. I will definitely be using the new layout that removes the pillars and makes the walls and ceiling even, that will greatly save me precious slots on not having to cover up the existing designs but it would be icing on the cake if they allowed us to be able to change the colors too. Here is an image I found on the new layout without pillars :3
To summarize the housing update shared in the LL (thank you to Miuna's unofficial live translation in the FFXIV subreddit):
Starting in 7.1, we will be able to freely change the interior design of our houses to that of any housing district or the new white pillarless design they are adding. There will be no gil cost to change the design. We will be able to do it as often as we like. The presentation slide also hinted at more interior designs to be added in the future.
Caution: every time you change the interior design your furnishings will be moved automatically into the Store Room. You will have to redecorate afterwards. There was no mention of whether the Store Room would have a temporary increase to item limit to accommodate what is being moved there. It seems logical there would be but you never know.
They had considered allowing a similar design change to house exteriors but decided to allow that would feel wrong.
Y "We were also thinking.... once you enter a house its basically a different dimension right?"
Y "And we give you the interior changes for free but we were thinking.... once you enter a S house... why cant it be L size inside?"
In another 1-2 patch cycles, they should be ready to implement the option to change interior size. So 7.2 or 7.3 is the estimated release for this. We'll also be able to change the interior size as often as we want but there will be a substantial gil cost (though amounts weren't stated) each time we change size.
Personally I don't expect the gil cost to be the same as the plot itself but I imagine it's likely to be at least half the cost of a grade 1 plot of that size (so 10 million med, 25 million large or more).
No mention was made of the promised (yes, it was promised for a change) item limit increase. I don't know if it was oversight because the housing information came at the end of the LL and they were a bit rushed to finish up or not mentioned because it will be in a later patch (possibly same time we get the size feature).
While I would like that, I don't think that's possible with the ward system as it is. The exteriors are not instanced as the interiors are. You can't have a large yard placed where a small currently is as it would overlap neighboring plots.

Mao is literally the only forum poster that I have ever and will ever respect here.
Now anyway, so my only question is...ok, so let's say;
you have a small house. Your housing item storage limit is 200 items.
you upgrade your interior to large. Does your housing storage still remain at the standard 200 item limit, or does it now bump up to the large's 400 item limit count?
I doubt it. They mentioned that they can do make a small interior into a large because "it's like stepping into another dimension." So, basically they can do this because housing interiors are instanced.
The neighborhoods are shared however. If you could change the size of your plot it would scramble the rest of the neighborhood
I would assume the item slot limit increases to the of a large house. But I'm also hoping that they're gonna quadruple the item slots at the same timeMao is literally the only forum poster that I have ever and will ever respect here.

Yeah, that would require them expanding all housing zone plots to accommodate the possibility of all houses being mansions. This would solve one of the largest complaints of housing where any plot can be upgraded to a mansion (inside soon). I still hope they do so so that all the empty smalls suddenly become mediums and larges instead of sitting empty.I doubt it. I think if they did decide to do something like that, and I’d definitely be in favor of it, they would have to create brand new wards specifically for that purpose. No one that has a house now would want to take the chance of losing their current views with a newly designed ward, I’m sure! lolYeah, that would require them expanding all housing zone plots to accommodate the possibility of all houses being mansions. Honestly I’d rather they just throw down a generic instanced plot that lets you choose your background views, and make that expandable. Now that they’re divorcing the interior neighborhood styles/pillars from the actual plot, it should be a possibility. But they’re still a little avoidant of the main housing issue, which is scarcity! Still the “mirage” is a step in the right direction… they just need to address that in many places it’s still just as hard to get a small as it is to get a larger size!
Very happy about this. A few naysayers kept trolling us that it'd never happen. I'm excited that I can finally get the mansion that I've wanted for 11 years.
