The thing is, the state FF14 is at the moment they cannot afford to make a patch that dosn't give casuals something that keeps them occupied. Not when a patch takes like 5 months to make nowadays.
- Making a few hours worth of MSQ and Hildibrand+ a new dungeon that may or may not have a glam at all that is not a recolor is not enough.
- Custom Deliveries? It takes like 10 minutes at best on a weekly basis.
- Beast Tribes? Yay another 10 minute endeavor on a daily basis.
- Alliance Raid? 20minutes weekly because for some reason in 2024 they still think its a good idea to have 1 gear/week loot restriction on it. Not to mention what if a player dosn't care about FF11? At least with Endwalker alliance raid as easy as it was, it had a story that was interesting and it was connected to FF14. This is just Nier all over again. The story most likely be that we take the Goblet of Failure, travel to the coincidentally 11th shard and beat up a bad guy for being bad, sprinkle a bunch of memberberries and thats it.
You cannot expect players to be satisfied with this much, its awful by default and timegating isn't exactly helping. I would gear up my alt jobs but guess what, tomestone cap.
It would not be so bad if most players didnt had to use up their backlogs at first during covid and then during Endwalker, but they had to.
The content is dry for years now at this point. Anyone who wanted something from older content most likely already got it and they are not going to collect some random old relic they dont want or aim for necromancer, just to have a goal.
