Surely there is room for a 'grey area'?
Those players who're disappointed, but not outright offended? Those players who liked Dawntrail well enough but will also concede that there was room for improvement?

Maybe they should read the complaints of those who still like the product enough to pay for it. I am currently emptying my houses to let them go and don't really care what fixes SE comes up with in a few years, because I won't be here to see them.
I don't think Yoshida actually plays this game anymore. The 'creative' in business unit 3 was replaced by AI and some interns. I'd love to be proven wrong.

He's said himself that running CS3/CBU3, getting the new projects going, and his responsibilities as a member of the board keep him from doing more than glancing XIV's way every now and again. They wheel him out for press purposes because people still like and trust him for some reason, but it's all just a script with no personal element.

This is how it always feels with first PLL of a new expac. They confirmed what is mostly coming out for 7.2.
It's almost like FFXIV exists to be the antithesis of WoW. During 2013 through 2023, when WoW was all about the endgame grind, FFXIV invested in casual content. But in 2024, WoW has more casual content than FFXIV with tons of single-player (plus optional multiplayer) things to do including delves. So what does FFXIV do? Invest everything into endgame raiding! Say goodbye to your casual content, it's all about the raid grind from here on out. Extreme trials, savage alliance trials, and ultimates. If you don't like those, then just go back to WoW, am I right fellas? Funny how times have changed.
I chose FFXIV because it was the non-raider's MMO, so if Square Enix is looking for us to switch to WoW, then we have no choice but to oblige. I'm not changing my interests just because a multinational corporation tells me to.
Yep, that's true, some things will always remain the same. Just like Square Enix going broke and making bad choices. It wasn't that long ago that FF13 was a dumpster fire, FF14 1.0 flopped, FF15 was a mess, and FF16 was a bore. FFXIV was exceptional for a while, but now we're back to what we're all used to.
Casual content is supposedly coming in this expac, its just coming much later. It really is a shame since the game could really use that exploration zone now lmao.

It's kind of absurd to think about the timeline with the current cadence. If it's in X.25 like Eureka, that's probably somewhere in April. If it's X.35 like Bozja, that's late August at the earliest. It's even sillier to think that something like Beastmaster, if it's placed in the same spot BLU was, will be in the middle of May 2026.
It does suck. New content that I'm never going to do. The beast tribes are good and the custom delivery, but I would've rather had them a month ago.
It just seems like they're tone deaf on the harder content they want to release, ignoring the fact that a vast majority of people aren't going to do it. Regular 24 mans can be a pain. I'm not sure who wanted harder, but there you go. Let's hope it has good rewards. Otherwise, it's dead after a month like Eureka Orthos and Varient Dungeons.
But I don't do content I can't just queue for so there's that.
Don't get me wrong, I would love some more midcore content. I just don't want it at the level of having to watch guides and follow a meta. I just want to play.

I think my biggest "Why" of the LL was Duty Support for Halatali when you could just lower the company level requirement on squadrons as they also cover Halatali(and a lot of older optional dungeons) already. This just seems like a waste of development time to me when squadrons could have just been adjusted to be unlocked earlier.
