I stubbornly try to find parties on my home data center because, well, I don't think "the community" should be labelling them as "the RP one" or "the raid one" or whatever the label du jour is.
I do like DC travel, but at the same time I know that allowing people to join raid PFs on other data centers kills their home DC's raid PFs, and causes people to camp over on the other DC for the respective region. So I like DC travel but at the same time I know there is an issue with it that needs solving.
No, they do care and they know it's an issue. That doesn't mean the solution is just "disable DC travel".From what I saw on this 'forum', people don't care if DC travel is killing off other DCs' PFs as evidenced by their demands of lifting the restrictions or else.
The solution from my perspective is to block off the ability to join Public High-End PFs while visiting other data centers. This way, you would still be able to join private ones to raid with your static, but wouldn't abandon your own DC just to PUG.
The reason they want restrictions lifted is so they can raid with their statics, reach S ranks, etc. Most requests to lift restrictions actually refer to lifting them for paid transfers.
There are people (including myself) who would like to region travel between JP<>NA<>EU. As much as I wish this wasn't the case, it's a relative minority of people who care about this.
The reason I said they are aware is because:This is 15 times the PF entries on Light vs Chaos. That's a problem. So of course Yoshi-P can see everyone going to Mana in his region and has mentioned it.
- In JP region, everyone goes to Mana to raid.
- In NA region, everyone goes to Aether to raid (assuming they can even get there anymore).
- In EU, everyone goes to Light to raid.
Bump!
Personally I am devastated what Data Centre Travel did to my DC and a part of me wishes DC travel didn't even exist. Of course that wouldn't be ideal as people wouldn't be able to play with their friends. But any new players won't want to join a "dead" DC. Each time someone asks what server to join everyone says "Join Light, Chaos is dead!". Personally it is not dead, it does feel like we have more sprouts so it will grow in time, but if the community keeps traveling to other DC's for duties, our PF will have 3 high end duties, and the other 100+. That can clearly be mistaken by a new person who does not know about DC travel that the game seems dead. And even if we get new players, they will just travel.
As removing DC travel would be chaos for many people now, the best would be Cross-Data Centre PF. So we don't need to travel. DF is fine how it is. But at least fix PF. Before people even mention JP-NA-EU travel, I hope they fix the common issue, and make each region have a cross DC PF.
They can't keep doing this "half open, half closed" DC travel thing. They opened the DC travel jar, and there's no putting it back now. If they closed it back up, it would sever so many communities that it's just not worth it. My raid static exists because they opened DC travel. This week, after playing together for 2 and a half years, we all met up in person for the first time. If they close DC travel again, I lose my ability to raid with all my friends. Sure, we can make alts, but we'd still have to buy skips, level, and gear them all over again just to raid together. No thanks.
AND as a someone who also plays on Dynamis, wow, I sure wish it wasn't as dead here. I don't want to have to travel off world just to get an alliance raid to pop. That sucks, let alone trying to do any kind of harder content you need PF for. The economy is also really slow, which makes it hard to earn gil to do anything with. Cross DC PF fixes all of this. Players leave to run content. If they don't have to leave to run content, then they'll stay on Dynamis and actually contribute to our economy. I want to travel to other DCs to visit friends and go to player run events, not because I have to travel to get anything done.
