I wouldn't consider DT being woke. Just badly written. Evidence of woke is out there in gaming. Just look at the countless flops in recent past. It is a problem not the problem with DT.

And then there's the massively successful BG3, which is "woke" as all hell. Again, having representation doesn't make a bad game. Corporate cynicism including bad stereotype characters is.
Which kind of goes back to what other people said where Dawntrail really didn't suffer from "muh wokeism" but rather just really terrible writing. Quest structure felt so uninspired and repetitive and the dialogue and character arcs felt like it was written by people who think "We gotta dumb down concepts for the kids".
BG3 had excellent writing, player agency, and fleshed out characters with backstories, goals, and actual arcs and didn't treat its audience like they're stupid. I doubt it would've been fun if eating some food and saying "I understand your culture and wanna be friends" somehow solved every problem in the game immediately.
Frankly I would've preferred a Monster Hunter style story where we go on hunts and simply study the culture and wildlife than the whole Dawnservant Tournament Arc they had going on. Hell, Valigarmanda could've been an elusive boss that Gulool JaJa fought off before but now its back and disrupting Tuliyolall's ecosystem again and causing issues with food and safety, etc. Maybe have us fight it and chase it down to Shaaloani. But I'm just rambling.
"Woke" is realizing that even in your fantasy games there is oppression and suffering and people will obvious resist it. Corporate Square Enix has a lefty agenda lmao, the funniest thing I've heard today
Man, I sometimes wonder what it's like to live in a world of conspiracy theories and not just... enjoying a game. Sounds like an awful time (also what does it explain regarding Hit Detection being credited in VII:Rebirth? a game that was a genuinely fun and fantastic time with SO MUCH content in it it took me ~100 hours to beat the story because the side content was actually also really good).
Everyone that played the original and Crisis Core should easily notice certain changes but there i no point devolving into this discussion as nothing good will come out of it.Man, I sometimes wonder what it's like to live in a world of conspiracy theories and not just... enjoying a game. While i did quite enjoy the FF7 Rebirth MSQ he side content really wore me out and it really made me hate moogles or rather those abominations pretending to be moggles. If you think that tedious timesink activities are great content then you are truly easy to please and a perfect customer i guess.
How spot if a game is WOKE:
- A lot of focus on a strong female character(s) ( often main character, or take up big screentime)
- Strong good written males character is nonexisiting, and if they are' they're place in the [ toxic masculinity] check box
- Main quest or side quest contains, at least 1 or two stories that purly focus on gender (like gay/lesb/trans).
- Diveristy but feel forced and fake;race swapping, doesn't feel natural, doesn't match the setting..etc
- Lack or Zero attaractive characters ingame.
There is probably more, but those are easiest one to spot.
How get ride of WOKE:
- NEVER PREORDER
- DO NOT BUY woke games.
if many enough players do this,
the product(s) will sell bad = investors will retreat
= big dmg to company.

With marketing, they generally want to put some of the best parts on display... But if the entire marketing is showing off how bad the characters look, and talking about their race and/or sexuality, you know it's not going to be a good product. How spot if a game is WOKE:

I feel like it's got to be exhausting to view every piece of media you consume through a lens of "how woke is it?"
