You know why I loved Tifa's redesign in Remake/Rebirth? Because as a big busted woman, I know that having Tifa without a sports bra doing kick flips and cartwheels would have been PAINFUL. And putting her in a pair of boy shorts under her skirt instead of white panties? Also realistic. it's also what Lightning has under her skirt, and it's how modern tennis skirts are made. You don't want that stuff riding up and getting stuck in uncomfortable places.

Her redesign was fantastic. Nothing DEI or woke about it. Just... modern.

At the risk of being jumped on by pitchforks. I'm gonna say it. Most men in games are designed to be ideal as well, either by having perfect chiseled abs (those things take a loooooot of work to maintain in real life).
Or towering broad bodies, pretty boy'ish face designs, muscular, strong and we men usually don't mind it, because they are something we would like to be and can jump into the boots of "being them" for a bit. Or have some qualities that we perhaps would like to possess or aspire into. I personally don't see the 10 gigaton chad space marine and say "I wish he was smaller, and lankier" for a more realistic non-sexualized image.

As for women characters in video games, I can only speak of a male perspective and personal taste. I sip coffee, I see something I like, neurons activate, I say "damn" and life goes on. I've heard from women though that prefer playing 14 to WoW that "I play 14 because I can make my character look hot".

So let a rip #freecloudscheeks I guess? I'm all for equal opportunity. Male characters are shirtless all the time in games with their oiled abs out on display, hell even if 14's body graphics are still PS2 level, that Estinien push up scene with sweat dropping off? Cmon.

There is actually a kind of epidemic of steroid use among young men trying to live up to impossible body standards that are being pushed harming their body/health long term.

But even then i still want male characters in my fantasy games look good / ripped and just over the top masculine.

I think it is fair if women are dressed scantily and stupidly in games if and only if men are equally as scantily and stupidly dressed in the exact same game as well. If Tifas chest is hanging out weirdly, then I think that it is unfair that Clouds buttcheeks arent hanging out weirdly as well. You may not like it, but this is reality. Undress male characters more in a way that is aggressively sexually provocative no matter how serious the battle scene. Games are about escapism and that exactly is escapism. Thank you.

Lyse is fine. Would definitely want her in the FF14 Onsen Episode (that we will never get)
