It certainly is and pretty racist too. Though I suppose there is an element of truth (as with all stereotypes) in that it appears to be predominantly western and westernised organisations and services that have increasingly adopted short form and clickbait content, which suggests that attention spans are shrinking faster in western cultures than elsewhere. Much to my own displeasure I'm guilty of it too, when someone says "... according to our 100 page report..." I tend to want a summary of it, rather than read the whole thing. It might also have something to do with a generally increasing pace of life, with more information becoming more widely available from a greater number of sources, all competing with entertainment for people's time and attention. You could spend a day or two reading and thinking about 'The Prince' or pass that time running multiple films, untold youtube videos, playing video games all while interacting with social media.

Not to say it's unique to the western world, just that it appears to be happening faster here; probably as a result of the west being the foremost producer of media and platforms later exported to the rest of the world.

I looked it up and found that a large amount of Americans enjoy Marvel, so maybe he's onto something. xD

That's a fair point. You reminded me of my time working as an instructional assistant at a public school; it took a lot of effort keeping my students on task.

I have a fairly short attention span too, especially when I feel like I'm short on time (which is sadly most of the time nowadays). I have to use text-to-speech to keep myself focused on my readings for grad school, for instance.
