Does this mean we are keeping the "Fist to Da Face" casting animation? We checked in with the animation team about whether or not races will have different animations and they said that there aren't any plans to have unique animations per race. Instead they'd rather show the uniqueness of each race through their emotes rather than their battle animations. They did say however that they are trying to create unique animations for many of the class and job actions by the launch of A Realm Reborn. Please keep in mind that there is a possibility that they might not be completed in time but that they will do their best!
I think the way the characters hold their weapons and move around with them drawn out could use a bit of change. Something that I would like to see is the way lances are held while running being changed to a more interesting animation such as that of Kain from Dissidia Duodecim.
Pretty sad, considering "that other online FF game" had different emotes AND action animations per race...We checked in with the animation team about whether or not races will have different animations and they said that there aren't any plans to have unique animations per race. This game is not WoW; if you want WoW, go play WoW. If you get butthurt when people mention Final Fantasy XI, then shut up about WoW.As much as it might hurt you, and as much as someone else brings the balance issues up, FFXI had the jobs right. And, you know, this is a FF, and I don't see you guys complaining about people asking for WoW things. So please.
Also, it's not like this dev team is being true to the roots of the jobs anyway.
Fare thee well, unique racial animations D: I suppose updated/varied skill animations will suffice though.
I think this is a sensible choice as it's kind of a waste of resources to figure out some new way for each race to do haymaker etc., and every other ability under the sun. Like, that's just a pointless waste of time, especially since races already run in a unique way, and animate in other unique ways. They're already unique enough as it is. Classes however, could benefit more from such differentiation. We checked in with the animation team about whether or not races will have different animations and they said that there aren't any plans to have unique animations per race. The current animations are extremely lame. We need new ones. They only have to look at their previous MMO -- They use the same team even.I think this is a sensible choice as it's kind of a waste of resources to figure out some new way for each race to do haymaker etc., and every other ability under the sun. they first will need to address the animations when activating skills, at this point they all use the same generic "power up" pose.
