    [Request] Gunbreaker and Dark Knight gap closer animations

    Can we please have the old animations for rough divide and plunge back on these jobs? Trajectory and shadowstrides animations are just so boring to look at and quite frankly seem super lazy and uninspired compared to the old gap closers.

    I agree that the damage should still be removed as it is more fun to play this way in my opinion but these new animations have got to go. I don't care if it doesn't make sense for the rough divide and plunge animations to do no damage. Bard had the potency removed on repelling shot years ago and they didn't butcher that animation. Please.

    Another one to add is Winged Glide, the zero potency replacement for Spineshatter Dive. It uses what I think is the same animation as Trajectory, just with a poorly done blue dragon head in front of the dragoon.

    I don't play much dragoon so I was unaware of this one. But yes the old animations are better across the board. It's not like monk where we can use them to warp to team mates. What was even the point in changing the animations?

    They already had the solution for the gap closers in 2.0 - Monk's Shoulder Tackle could only be used when you was a certain distance away from the target, making it basically impossible to use it for burst phases because you would risk losing uptime on other skills and auto attacks when you moved away from the target.

    Gap closers should have stayed attacks with actual damage, but with the added requirement to actually stay away from the target to use them.

    Or put them on the GCD with the same potency as the ranged attacks. Have a gapcloser GCD and a dash oGCD. Best of both worlds.

    Yes please, the new dragoon animation is so lame and out of character. How did anyone even come up with the idea to remove the gap closer jump from the jumping class... Like what was the thought process? What did they assume would be improved by that? The only thing they achieved is that the skill is a lot less stylish now. I feel like a silly dragon-themed train choo-chooing towards the enemies... :|

    They could just have removed the damage and everything would have been fine. If I can jump backwards without doing damage then jumping forwards without doing damage will not break my ~immersion~.

    Genuinely curious what feedback, if any, prompted these changes. Were there really that many people complaining about needing to hit their gap closer attack during a burst window? I can maaaybe see Gunbreaker, but I've never had an issue weaving them on any of my mains. If for whatever reason they don't want the players using their gap closer during burst, then make it mathematically not worth it (have to spend a resource that could be used for something better for example, such as what Samurai has) or have it not be available to use unless you're X meters away from the enemy, etc.

    But no, instead they take away ALL damage and replace it with the most boring animations imaginable, which took more effort than just adjusting the timing or numbers. WHY??

    If they wanted a zero potency gap closer, fine I guess, but why did they have to make it not a jump for Dragoon?

    The gap closer changes seem to be a net negative across the board. DRG’s animation is ... confusing (and visually dated), and GNB’s misplaced fairy-like sound effect is pisses me off every time I hear it. DRK’s is serviceable, but it’s still a poor substitute for Plunge. Not to mention the initial implementation was such a mess it had to be patched. Did no one test these?

    I wonder what the general audience thinks of these changes. It may seem small to some, but this raises serious questions about the design direction. If this is what we’re getting, it doesn’t exactly inspire confidence going forward. Winged Glide, specifically, looks like trash. It's weirdly similar to Monk's Flying Serpent Kick from WoW, a move—what, 12 years old?
