    "DDOS" for MONTHS on end with no resolution UNACCEPTABLE

    Every night for the past ~2 weeks at around 10pm PST and every other day before that going back months, the servers have become unplayably laggy and repeatedly kick players off. We have been told all this time it is "DDOS attacks" to blame and that SE is "looking into a solution. Why have they not found one yet? How long can we accept "looking for a solution" on a paid subscription game before refunds are warranted for failure to provide service?

    We at least need some sort of update more frequently. Let us know what you are doing to combat this. I also play WOW and ESO and no other online game seems to have this problem. Only SE.

    Please do better. Let us know via community outreach that you are at least working on a solution!

    No no, they'd never say "we will have", they know it'll eventually be 8.0 and that would come due. It would be more like "We're thinking about starting to look into".

    For me they have actually been fine except the other day when I had some lag and also disconnected once. It seems like it's usually hitting nodes that only some people are passing through.

    I remember they said that they can't directly stop the one in the past because it was being affected for political reasons and wasn't related to SE, so in addition to SE contacting the ISP, they have said it helps for a lot of players to bombard them with complaints too. I'm not sure if that's still the case or not. SE does also routinely contact ISPs to help them setup countermeasures or adjust them to match the new attack pattern, since the attackers change pattern sometimes.

    The only thing I can think of to solve it at this point is for them to just move the server to a completely different location.

    Trying to do anything on NA right now is absolutely impossible. It takes me 15 seconds just to get into my own damn house. Imagine if you're trying to run PoTD or literally any player content.

    And of course, Yoshi P and Square Enix are glad to take our monthly sub fees anyway. Embarassing.

    I am going to continue putting in support tickets requesting updates and ETA for a fix along with comp for loss of paid sub time until this issue is addressed. I seriously suggest all paying customers who value their time/money do the same. Two months of this is unacceptable and SE needs to do more than tell us every few weeks they are looking into it.

    It is VERY likely, that it is not a DDOS attack. It is more likely, that SQEX's network equipment is vastly undersized and cannot handle the normal workload.

    What happened over the weekend was most definitely a DDOS but I don't think it was directed at the FFXIV servers. If it had been an issue with the game servers (whether DDOS or hardware/software failure), everyone in my party doing a story run of Eden for first timers would have been getting disconnected instead of just half the party (and consistently the same half). I never got disconnected or experienced any latency issues myself yet others were getting booted frequently.

    If it's not the SE servers being specifically targeted, they can't do anything other than notify the companies that operate the internet infrastructure that SE customers are being affected.
