For Everyone Who Missed The Rising Event

Here's a bad recap of the story:


Some low-level employee of the Yellowjackets First Levy is bored at her job and decides the yearly fireworks show Limsa does isn't good enough even though all she does is stand around the basement of the Marauder's Guild all day. She cooks up this grand idea to really make the show pop and naturally does so without any consideration for the economics or logistics of setting up such a display so soon before The Rising actually occurs. Her boss rightly calls her an idiot and the WoL shows up. For some reason or other YoshiP shows up too and at his behest we allow another NPC to rope us into their scheme.

Since the bureaucracy is somewhat sensible if not inefficient, they refuse to provide the barges or labor required for the enhanced firework production. The Yellowjacket chick's solution is to talk to sad people in the market about their traumatic experiences during the Calamity. The WoL right clicks the people with the quest icon above their heads and accidentally starts a couple lvl 1 quests since the markers look so similar. You meet a fisher, a fisherman's wife, and I forget who else I think a catgirl.

You go back to the Yellowjacket and share your findings and like, get this, her solution for the ships thing is to ask the fucking pirates to do it for her. Now I'm sure you're aware of the relationship between the pirates and the peacekeepers but just in case you forgot, the pirates like the Yellowjackets about as much as trans people like cops. Anyway, it's off to the Anchor Yard where we meet leaders of 2 of the big pirate guilds. The first one is an Elezen man who rightly tells us to fuck off. The other is this chick who has only girl pirates at her command and wants to fuck the Elezen guy but she's a tsundere so we gotta go through that whole rigmarole. After clicking through the text boxes really fast, we manipulate her using the knowledge of her attraction to the Elezen guy and I forget what else we did but we somehow persuade them to allocate ships to this ridiculous firework display by effectively paying them in exposure. I forget how the rest of that convo went but it's time to head to the Ferry Docks.

Now I'm not sure if you've seen The Rising firework display in years past but I'm starting to think these pirates ran one over on us because the display was the exact same it's always been. The Yellowjacket chick is happy and we head back to the Anchor Yard where YoshiP sings a song. We get teleported to a plane between reality where YoshiP breaks the fourth wall to remind us to pay our subs and keep looking forward to it. After this you get the achievement and a Krile minion that connected to the story in no way whatsoever. You can elect to talk to the quest NPC repeatedly to watch scenes with characters you forgot were in the game. The end.

I think you're thinking of Destiny 2. Here, the $15 gets you full access to everything in the game for the month. D2 recycles the same "events" year after year but makes you pay the equivalent of an extra month just to get the event stuff.

Not gonna lie, I'm sick of these two already. The little tsundere thing was cute at first, but now it's just another example of them rehashing tired old tropes. I'd love to see the Elezen show up and the Pirate acts embarrassed, not because she's a tsundere but because they're dating and she doesn't want her shipmates to know. Or maybe they've already broken up and she hates him now. Just move shit forward.
