    I think you need to choose between "mech complexity" and "apm", you cant have jobs with 70-80 apm while doing very complex mechanics, nonetheless I think APM should be a bit higher, 50 to 55 for every class more or less

    They started to put more "react & adjust" kind of mechanics recently, I hope they will be more in the future

    Just giving some more information, but overall I agree
    RuneScape (hilariously enough) is an example of a system that works with interesting stat choices because while each of its 4 main combat systems has an absolute BIS at any one time that BIS is often locked behind being incredibly expensive (like the equivalent of billions of Gil) can often be extremely hard to obtain and different fights benefit fun different accessories that may or may not also be extremely expensive

    So this creates a tiered BIS where if you have 50 billion Gil you can just buy the absolute BIS but most players who have limited money pools will have to pick and choose based on how much money they have, what the fight asks for, what skills they have levelled, whether they want to use degrading armour and if they want to spend more money inventing new perks for new gear they buy

    Let’s take a super easy explanation of this system- the cape slot

    Now for a lot of fights there are niche capes that are BIS for a fight and they can have different requirements including
    -completing a set of tasks for the local city that requires high levels in many skills
    -completing treasure hunts
    -completing particular long quest chains

    Outside of these niche capes the most common BIS cape is the trimmed completionist cape, which is only offered to people who have done everything in the game, below that is usually the max cape which is all skills at 99 cape and below that are the individual skill skill capes for getting that skill alone to 99. Intersected in that can be capes like the third age cape (incredibly expensive) or Ava’s attractor (retrieves arrows)

    Every cape is a choice of what to wear, has different requirements and upsides and costs a different amount leading to 10,000 different builds you can make

    That is an example of this sort of skill system working for many players

    As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.

    I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
