I honestly find it degrading, and to me it's an indication about the level of attachment some players have to their characaters.

Everquest 2 is going to add that ^ (as you can see in the video^)
well its the first time i used that word actually. but funny how some people seem to be annoyed by that. i haven heard/read that so often.

It started in games where your characaters actually looked cartoonish. Then it started being used more because it was fewer letters to type than "character." In spite of the intent, it looks and sounds silly and makes it sound like we're talking about something in a cartoon.

Maybe when .Hack's The World is created. Until then it just seems very unnecessary unless people plan on making a movie in game.

Agreed, eventually this will be a standard for games (I would hope anyway) when full virtual reality is commercially available.
Also, I'm a little amused and almost ashamed of the reaction at his use of "toon". It's almost as if he said something hateful and insulting to an entire way of life.

Guys really, while killing mobs is this the face you want to see majority of the time.... I mean come on ALL our faces tend to look like this while exping.
