I was thinking of a category for roles and sub-roles in the game and I would like to share it.. these categories serves as a purpose for each role and each sub-role within the role
I will start with the main 3 roles.. I will take in examples if we consider all fights are raids
Tank: Focus on "self" mitigations and switching "provoke" with tanks to reduce boss rage.. it is like you are holding hot drink.. switching to other tank will reduce the damage done (new meter to manage other than boss HP).
Mitigations have different type of weaknesses that can be solved by sharing mitigations between tanks plus healers and supports who can have an extra effect.
Healers: healers focusing on raid wide mitigations all can shield and heal with no separation.
DPS:
I want to give a 2 sub-roles based on their functionality:
Selfish DPS: Nothing other than damage and complex DPS rotation.. focusing to deal as much damage as possible.. they can be melee.. casters and Phy range.
Supports DPS: focusing on giving buffs provide party necessary utility.. uptime damage buffs.. improve tanks self mitigation.. apply extra effect on healers heals/Shields.. ability to raise.. it is like joker job working all around.
Supports will have simpler DPS rotation similar to tanks
BRD/DNC: more DPS buffs.. less mitigations.. higher rDPS.. raise is situational.
RDM/SMN less DPS buffs.. more mitigations.. higher personal damage.. easier access to raise.
reasons and other notes:
- removing 2 min buff and burst job meta
- give tanks less party heals or shield and focusing on keeping the boss distracted and managing its rage
- healers separation kills healer role.. but also how every other role can heal too
- supports is as important as selfish DPS.. either for buffs or their raise and mitigations.
- jobs like MNK/RPR/PCT can have their buffs but can't share it with others but removing self healing if they are considered as selfish DPS
