Unfixable engine, nft projects, juggling 3 game developments.
But "everything is fine" and "everything is overblown" and "you just hate fun"
Cant wait for the world to soften up too in the story. And some real world inserted into the game ala Sweet baby inc. Dragon quest already got swiped.
pls understand ffxiv is alpha game for the last 10 years
small indie company that uses our sub to fund other mediocre SE projects

You think they're starting to let the praise get to their head?
I remember back in like, 2013-2017, Blizzard was starting to get that 'we are too big to fail' mindset, where they felt like they could churn out anything and people would buy it. Well, they ended up losing like, 90% of their peak players, and it took them until 2022 to finally get it in their heads that they actually need to try to maintain their numbers.
I feel like Square might be hitting that point with XIV. 'These players are too addicted to our game to quit, we don't even have to try anymore!' And that might be true for some people. But I know that if I don't hear the right things in the Live Letter later this month, I'm taking an extended hiatus...

That would require Square to be bleeding players. They're not. Since 2.0, there has been the typical consistent cycles that all MMO's experience, with gradually an overall upward trend. DT just had the highest presales of any FFXIV installment, and the current player population is likewise among the highest ever (being topped only by the release month of DT itself and that brief massive influx we saw a few years back with the "WoW exodus").You think they're starting to let the praise get to their head?

Nice WHM + DoH + DoL combo you got there.

They should just sell their server hardware and use cloud for everything. I'm assuming the big providers have better DDoS protection and definitely better location/infrastructure. (Note: I don't know wtf I'm talking about)
Fishing caused server crashes at one point...It's incredibly bad server hardware.
One time the servers got shut down because there were too many Market Board requests at once.
Sometimes the problem's even just caused by the weather. Actually I think all of these are either bad weather or as you've said stealth maintenances because in every other MMO i've played, the players were all able to figure out what was causing the DDOS as it was occuring.

-An issue wherein fishing in Outer La Noscea could cause the server to crash.
*As a temporary measure against this issue, we have made fishing temporarily unavailable at North Bronze Lake in Outer La Noscea. The issue will be addressed sometime next week. In the meantime, the same fish can also be obtained at North Bronze Lake in Upper La Noscea, so we ask that fishing be performed there instead until the issue has been fixed.

This happened once and it's because they moved the hole without removing the previous location's hole.
That's a crash, not a DDOS.

I know I am probably opening a whole can of worms here asking this; but what reason could make an individual constantly attack this game with DDoS? Like what issues do they have for them to be persistent for two months? Why pay for it to happen? I know this is shooting theories into the dark, but does anyone know any history of reasons why some individuals go out of their way to do this?
