Kudos to SE customer service. My account was hacked & my gill stolen.

Recently, my account was hacked, and virtually all of my gil was stolen, including the gil from the FC chest. Someone used my account to approve the hacker's application to join the FC. My rank within the FC is the second highest; it has many more privileges than other ranks. My account was then used to promote the hacker to my rank. Virtually all of my gil was then deposited into the FC chest. The hacker then withdrew all of my gil that had been deposited and all of the gil in the FC chest. The hacker was then dismissed from the FC. I noticed this on the same day, on a Monday. I immediately changed my password, enabled 2FA, and submitted a ticket. By Friday, SE had restored my gil. The following week, on Wednesday, GM Laghegath messaged me and told me they could verify what I had told them. GM Laghegath then told me they could also restore all of the gil from the FC. It was a welcome surprise. Thank you to everyone who conducted the investigation and for the tremendous customer service I received. Thank you to Alfred, Jon, GM Laghegath, and everyone who helped in the investigation. I am one pleased FFXIV player at the moment.

Interesting; I normally see people say that they can't restore FC gil unless that changed. But they can usually restore your character data from a backup where you still had the gil (but this can erase any progress you made after that such as clearing content).

They did roll back my account. Thankfully, I did not lose a lot of progress because I essentially stopped playing after that because I knew it would be pointless. They may have restored my gil due to the circumstances of how it occurred, so it may not be a typical experience in other circumstances.

CS has usually been good, in my experience. I've had some weird problems fixed and with reasonable speed and I've never felt like I was being spat innaccurate form responses at.

It's in stark contrast to how poor modern Blizzard CS is, it's a good thing they have self-serve tools or you'd be doomed.
