    Suggestion: remove/reduce the capped tome cost from weapons?

    500 weekly capped tomes per weapon is a bit too much!

    A lot of people like to play multiple jobs, which already take some 5 or 6 weeks to purchase the BIS items for. So adding an extra week+ on top of for a temporary buff can seem like a bit of a waste. (And 500 is an awkward amount too, more than a weeks worth just to be extra annoying!)

    Why not remove the tome cost from them altogether? It's not like you could go crazy and instantly gear up all your characters, as you still need a weekly locked drop from M2S, or 7 weeks of normal mode clears to get one. And then an additional item from M3S to upgrade them.

    An alternative would be to use tomes of Aesthetics instead, if they really HAVE to cost something!

    Failing the above, maybe we could have the option to hand in a Tomestone weapon to your Grand Company once you've finished with it, for a partial refund?

    There has to be a better way to implement these, rather than having a drop from floors 2 and 3 that nobody wants after a couple of weeks!

    We should get at least 600 tomes per week and perhaps a reduction of the cost of some of the left side items. 450 is a low number that makes it difficult to gear and play with alt jobs. Most players got all their tomestone BiS items last week (6th) or this one (7th).

    6-7 weeks to get the BiS tomestone pieces (not even considering any extra you could take before you grab the BiS from Savage) is too much.

    It is fine where it is. They are providing a reasonable balance. It keeps, for example, a market for crafted weapons while players earn either the tomestone upgrade from savage or the normal raid.

    There have been weekly limits since 2013 when the game came out. I wouldn't expect them to remove them any time soon.

    Well, I don't think it's fine that a mere few weeks after a new Savage tier is released we have rewards being handed out that are essentially useless and nobody wants. Removing the tome cost would make these drops desirable for all players and have an actual long term use.

    I really doubt it would do anything noticeable to the market for crafted weapons. Even if these things had 0 tome cost, you still would be very limited in how many you can obtain. 1 every 8 weeks on average from M2S, and 1 every 7 weeks from normal raids. There are a lot of classes to gear, and crafted weapons will still be a good option for alts. Armour and accessory drops from Savage can be used immediately without a tome cost, but that doesn't stop their being a market for crafted armour and accessories.

    Just because a system has been bad for a long time doesn't mean that it can never be fixed. We just need enough people to actually ask for a change!

    Legs, and chests cost more tomes than weapons. Gloves, and boots, are practically as expensive as weapons. W H Y

    Please make weekly capped tome gear cheaper.

    I do think it's something they could stand to take another look at, as we've gotten more classes since the last time they considered it. They don't want it too fast to gear up, but they do make it very difficult to have multiple roles and classes and could probably stand to ease that a little bit.

    This was asked at the UK fanfest last September in London at the meet and greet to increase the weekly Tome cap/ lower the price of gear and YoshiP expressly said "No", the Tome cap will not be changing as it's a management decision based on retention.

    500 tomes for the most impactful upgrade is a steal compared to 800+tomes for chest/legs.

    If your issue is specifically in buying 2nd/3rd weapons within a single role (for example tanks, where you'd just buy one chest piece but need 3 weapons), I can see it. But I think that speaks more to a "alt off-roles need to be made cheaper" issue than "weapons should be cheaper across the board".
