    DRK Spam in Frontlines

    So I just had a frontline with a pre-made group of DRKs. They'd show up, you get pulled 3 or 4 times while being stunned the entire time, and die. Use the ability to break stun? Stunned again. Kills 5-12 people each time.

    When are they going to either limit how many DRK can be in a frontline, nerf the AOE pull in (make it a slow down or snare, not a stun), or straight give every class a stun because it's been obnoxious since the PVP rework years back. *Very* tired of seeing it.

    Think I have had a stun for as long as I can remember, even in Stormblood? And it was always obnoxious in my experience. But at a certain point, you just accept it's part of the PvP. It's fun to stun people, but not so much fun when you get stunned.

    Anyway, having done PvP for years now, I learned my lesson about Frontline. That lesson is that if you run into the enemy players, they will focus you, throw 20 status effects on you and kill you.

    That is why you never run into the crowd of enemy players unless your alliance is with you, or as a tank using invuln.

    You can risk it to do your burst slightly but got to retreat quickly and be ready with your bubble, mit, potions and sprint if they focus you, and have a plan to get behind your alliance asap. Then they will either be lured in and get fried by your alliance, or leave you be.

    Best you can do is spam the exact same thing as them, but people apparently don't even want to try.

    Maybe that's because we've been stuck with the same tedious, one-trick meta for 2 years?

    I'll wait for the stream of comments from DRK premade commanders explaining that people only get smashed by DRK due to their skill deficiencies. It may even be true. But that doesn't negate the fact that this tired, old meta needs a shake-up. 7.1 is make or break IMO.

    Same back then when Pala + cover was basically cheating on Onsai... sure it wasnt unstoppable but IT SUCKED, it sucked ALL THE FUN out of the game...


    And after another eve of having the same trouble, the very oblivious teams that stuck together, always within the same composition, im just sick of it.


    I still say remove all tanks and healer from pvp - at the very least from large scale modes with no fixed party compositions. They will NEVER get this balanced as is...

    tbh it's made me want to try out dark knight in frontlines because it really feels like a lot of the time if you don't have one on your team then it's over

    Not really. It's a much bigger issue if your team has too few tanks of any kind.

    DRK is not broken by itself in Frontline. If you're playing DRK and you don't have the right teammates to follow up on your personal combo, then you will be instakilled after your ten seconds are up. The most broken meta combo requires at least one competent AST who knows how to use their Macrocosmos and other abilities (AST is the primary source of damage in a classic DRK mass death situation), but there are other jobs that synergize really well like PCT (secondary AoE bind and very high AoE burst damage). Generally the "broken" DRK gameplay we all know and love comes out of premade groups who have the correct team composition and have good Frontline decision making skills.

    Just add knockback and draw-in immunity to purify during fl, have it match old fetter ward.

    Prepop if you see a drk running at you and they'll be forced to either wait for resilience to drop off, or disengage. The potential also then exists for drks baiting early purifies by running in and out, evening shit up somewhat and not making it a total shutdown of their engagement potential.

    Bonus is that it'll fuck with blota as well, and soft nerf mnk's ability to dive backliners by preventing the application of pressure point.

    Idk man. Having finally dipped my toe sometime ago in JP Frontline scene kinda changes my perspective a little bit.

    In NA this same pony trick can be done anytime and you’ll have a good chance to kill off 6-10 players or more in a single dive. Do that in JP in same fashion, at best you’ll only kill 1-4 players and will get counter burst, badly.

    From what I’ve seen there, the job itself doesn’t seem to be the entire issue. The moment next meta settles in, we’ll be back to “Please effin’ nerf X!!!” once more.

    It's effective on NA because a large portion of the players participating don't do anything beyond spamming "1" on the 1st thing their tab target falls on and haven't figured out when to use Guard. Or they can't CC the DRK because they wasted it on a PLD trolling them a few seconds ago. DRK's draw-in sucks, but what sucks even more is watching half of your team die to a single raw-jump without any Guard-breaks used because they tunnel so hard a mole would blush.
