Are those healers in the room with us right now? I keep hearing about healers who "refuse to heal" and yet, in over 2 years of playing this game pretty much daily, I have NEVER seen that happen. Sure, there are some people who are new/tired/just plain bad but why is that what all healers are measured by to people like you? I could just as easily point to all the garbage tanks who don't know they have Rampart by level 100. Nobody is saying they should lose their DPS rotations because they clearly can't manage both that and also mitigation. What about the DPS who forget their raid buffs and defensive cooldowns? Or better yet - the DPS who can't even do their rotation right? Let's just remove all of those as well, since clearly they can't do their job anyway. See how stupid your point was yet?

To be fair, I think "healer in FFXIV" is the role that has to deal with the most amount of "rare events." For example:
    • Most parties are not clown cars that stand in the bad.
    • Most encounters don't afflict unavoidable debuffs that can be Esuna'ed.
    • Most encounters don't afflict unavoidable, Esuna'ble debuffs that hurt so much that it's worth while to do so.
    • Most encounters don't afflict bleeds that truly hurt.
If I, as a healer, zone out between unavoidable raid-wides, that's why. There's little incentive to pay constant attention looking for a rare event that, in many cases, won't actually wipe the party.
