Which is why we also want healers' damaging rotations to be more engaging. Look at tanks. They get their own (somewhat) unique rotations that are more than 1-2-3 the whole time. Not as deep or complex as a melee DPS rotation, but still enough to be fun. That's why you don't hear about how boring tanking is, or how we need more mitigation checks, tank busters, or mandatory swaps in normal content.

There are essentially two different factions of healer critics. The ones who want a more varied way to damage, and the ones who want to do more healing. Personally, I'm in the former camp. To require more healing in all content would be a balancing nightmare, leave less room for mistakes, and would only effect new content, none of the already existing level 1-100 stuff.
But giving healers two or three more buttons to press, and slightly changing the ones we've already got could be done in a single patch, and would almost immediately solve the issue. And if it doesn't, they could/should just keep white mage exactly as it is for the players who genuinely like the simple one button spam.
