You may not like it, but it is something that is absolutely needed for them, and not just for Raids and Trials... Healers do also need to do the MSQ, and with 99% of the solo duties in the game being balanced for a DPS, the healer experience is just pain...

Now, it doesn't need to be a fully built DPS class attached onto the side, but buffs to their existing attack and adding a few more, with hopefully a way for WHM and SGE to use their Job Gauge to regen MP and get to Afflatus more naturally than overhealing. Basically a version of SCH's Energy Drain, which should also be rather strongly buffed.
