What does "spec" even mean? I have never heard of it used in this context before and Google was of no help either.

I feel like they could have just said "intentional" or "by design" or something like that and it would have been significantly clearer, but oh well. Chalking this up to translation goofery.

Now we have to worry about what else is going to be considered "spec" going forward, especially when they felt the need to bring it up specifically when it came to character models.

Like, even beyond hrothgar and viera hats, female hrothgar have *other* issues with gear and lacking hairs overall that I certainly hope it wasn't *intentional*.
