I think the bigger problem in general is that it isn't a reasonable solution to ask someone in the OP's position to simply move. IRL, I've had bad neighbors and I chose to move. It cost me a pretty penny to do it, but I'm much happier for it. And that is in the current housing situation that this country is in...

Housing is rarely available... and no amount of currency can fix that problem due to the nature of housing in this game. So, moving to a different plot to get away from the "nuisance" isn't really an option.

It is an option, though a poor one because it can mean transferring to another world that has available housing as the OP has done.

In a way, housing in this game is a victim of the game's success. A smaller stable population would work well with a ward system. Wards don't have the flexibility needed for growing populations not to mention the demand it creates for more hardware to handle the need for more wards.

It's ironic that the instancing system that would solve demand problems sits neglected in the background because players are forced to navigate the ward gatekeeping system to get access to the instanced part of housing (the house interior). Remove the gatekeeping system (freeing the server resources it requires) and things would improve greatly. No more arguments over neighbor decor choices while still being able to freely visit other player's housing.

If the rumored features of Housing Mirage come to pass and they apply to apartments as well as houses, we could see a true positive shift at last.

I cannot believe it, my favorite drama got a part 2. This is like finding out your childhood favorite anime was renewed for another season ten years later!

Maybe have an option where if you live in a ward with bad neighbors, you can walk up to their plot placard and toggle the furnishings on their plot. This way, you can have your neighbors that have nicely decorated homes still be visible and hide the ugly eye sores individually.

I doubt they'd go that far with implementation, but would be a pleasant surprise should this gain traction and actually get enough attention to be added to FFXIV.

It’s a just a pixel house in a game (that has things like namazu, moogles, Hildibrand and a much bigger HoH tower btw) and the open wards are part of the fun. It’s all about personalizing your plot/house and displaying your decos. I really don’t see SE giving an option to make other houses and decos invisible.

If someone wants a gingerbread house with a giant Namazu effigy, an HoH tower and candy canes mixed with Garlean tech on their lawn it’s their business and there is no issue with that as long as they don’t start glitching items that encroach on someone else’s plot. Who spends time sitting on their pixel lawn watching the horizon anyway? OP can just go to the beach if they care that much about the 2 minute sunset: it’s got a better view anyway.

Nah, housing is first and foremost an opportunity for self-expression. I don't like casual modern clothing as glam, but it's extremely popular and I see it everywhere. I find it somewhat immersion-breaking, but I'm not going to ask others to change their favorite glam, nor am I going to ask Square to hide other people's clothing choices. The same applies to people's yards.

Dawntrail is supported on the PS4 and the Dawntrail license is under a dual PS4|PS5 heading. And it has been announced during live letter that PS4 would be supported throughout Dawntrail's life cycle.

The PS4 is just a convenient scapegoat. If you hadn't that, there'd be the Xbox S at least. And given the fix for a Steamdeck exclusive issue earlier this year, the devs also appear to take that console into account to a certain degree.
