Why i am taking a break

First, I love this game and it helped me cope and deal with the loss of my mother in '13 and brother in '22.

From the story content to characters, it was engrossing and addictive.

There were ups and downs in the content. I've seen people quit only the come back. Content creators just flat out quit. I stayed with it.

Last expansion, Endwàlker, took alot out of me. The story was heartbreaking. I felt happy, sad and depressed. Then the new MSQ storyline came out in 6.1.. left me feeling empty.

Those 10+ years. It felt like closure. The new story felt hollow and boring. I stayed for a bit then in 6.2 I decided to take a break until 6.55+

I did enjoy my time back. Leveled a new alt to experience the story. I even started preparing for Dawntrail.

Then the launch of Dawntrail. I w as at first excited. Then after the days and weeks of negativity towards the story, content and then hatred of Wuk Lamat just drained me. So after a few weeks of the new raid tier, which was fun, I started to get burnt out. That's remarkable. I've never felt that sooo early in an expansion.

I quickly got bored. Started logging in once a week again. Then I decided to cancel my subscription. I'm still able to log until January but I won't be renewing.

I've decided to take a break until then end of this expansions cycle. Hopefully SE will give me a reason to renew. I won't be doing the 6 month renew option anymore. It's going to be month to month. SE needs to earn my subscription.

So until then, peace.

This is what it sounds like. IDK what validation you want but this is very much acceptable. MMOs offer a variety of stuff and if you feel like you've finished the activities you like, it's okay to take a break and wait for the next patch of activities.

I mean... realistically the very best time to jump into FFXIV is not with an expansion, release, its really x.5. Ton of story to play, ton of content and you still have like a massive window of 6-8 months before the next expansion drops...

I feel you, I only keep my sub going to play with my wife. The lack of healing to be done in normal content, people being toxic about wuk lamat, tanks being overtuned by a fucking stupid degree. There are a lot of reasons to take a break.

That's basically where I'm at. I used to really enjoy DoH/DoL and the occasional dungeon/raid run, but I can't really get the same enjoyment from the game that I used to after this expac. The story's bad, the music's bad, the zones are bad, so much crafting is reliant on FATE grinding, the player base has grown more toxic since the streamers came and went, not enough changed from EW and the stuff that did seems like a downgrade. They've got to make changes and sadly it seems like they're planning on doubling down at the moment. I stay subbed for my wife since she still plays a lot.
