I've been waiting for this ever since they hinted at it, please I play both regions and I'd like to use 1 character to play both! I know people who have reservations about 'culture' or things changing, but those who want to play on both already do. I don't think much will change besides easing the lives of those who want to travel freely

I think OCE is a good alterenative cause I don't want EU PF to be dead cause some peepz think it's smart to flock to the "raiding" dc (it's unlikely that this will happen due to latency but still...). Maybe if they restrict the usage of party finder as Voyager

Yes, I would like this.

All regions have already been meeting on Materia, especially for hunts. I mean literally there are people from EU, JP and NA all in one party and they aren't having a particular problem with eachother. I was also going there for some time to do roulettes to help them out initially and that also wasn't an issue.

And again, we were all meeting on the Cloud DC as well and the culture mix wasn't an issue; we just simply adapted to work with eachother. We are not used to using auto-translate in the NA region but we learned to use it so we could communicate things to the JP players there and we fought all sorts of things together. Everyone there tried to show respect, even people who don't normally.

I'd also have to make the argument that if people want to play in the JP region, they already make an alt to do so. If EU players want to play in the NA region, they already do that on an alt or they transfer. If NA players want to play in the EU region, they already do that on an alt or they transfer. Beside just meeting people I know transferred across regions multiple times or have alts, I also know because I am in discord servers and see some players switching around.

I think it's unlikely due to latency, as you said. In fact, the motivation would likely be to go to a good-ping DC for raiding and then go somewhere else for other things (friends, roleplaying, etc).

But I think the "switch DC to raid" issue needs to be addressed more generally. The public "High-End" category should be blocked off when traveling to restrict pugging to home DCs, but the private "High-End" category left open so statics can still travel.

All public categories should be blocked when DC traveling. People should not be cross-DC traveling to do content with strangers, because it kills the PF on certain DCs.

Once that change is implemented I'll support cross region travel.

If they do that, people are just going to make private parties with the password in the description, or everyone's just going to decide that 0000 or 1234 is the "open to anyone" passwords.

What they could also do is just have anyone with the <<Traveler>> tag be counted as loot locked. so if you're DC traveling, you won't get anything from current savage, and you'll reduce the loot for everyone else too. But it doesn't stop friends from traveling over just to help each other out in a fight.

That wouldn't fix the issue of needing to DC travel to do old raids though. On the one hand, maybe we should let the DCs consolidate for old content since it's a lot harder to find groups for. On the other hand, it takes longer to fill, so people will be under those DC travel restrictions for longer.

The only groups that might be negatively affected are the high-end raid communities and what's left of the non-venue-focused free company communities. You could also make a case for a slight impact on hunts but to a much lesser extent. For everyone else, this change is a clear net positive.

Other local communities in some data centers might also be affected, particularly regarding language barriers in widely used Discord servers that strive for order and organization, such as those for Party Finder or Ultimate Raiding or providing some other resource.

That said, it seems like SE is aiming for an all-or-nothing approach: either allowing full regional data center travel or none at all.
