A Gift for the FFXIV Community, Yoshi P and all the developers

I've enjoyed this game for 11 long and wonderful years. I've had good times, bad times, and through thick and thin, this game has been here for me. And with it being 11 years now, I thought I'd give something back. So I made this song using Suno (it's an AI Song Generation site) to celebrate these 11 years. I hope Yoshi P and all the folks involved with FFXIV enjoy the song, as well as the community:

That's an oxymoron. A computer vacuumed up countless actually interesting and unique songs and extruded some homogenized slop based on the prompt you typed into it. You didn't make anything. Saying you did is an insult to the musicians who actually work on FFXIV's music. (Yes, even Smile.)

If you want to make music, make music. If you don't have any instruments IRL, use an online tool like Beepbox. Yeah, it's not going to sound great at first, but if you don't even try, what is the point?

But honestly after how bad Dawntrail and the graphics update is, maybe it's a fitting gift for Square Enix after all.

While the comments are a bit harsh, I'm afraid the complaints about AI "creation" are accurate. Using an AI tool is more akin to asking an unpaid assistant to snip out assets from other media and staple it together, and it may stump your own creative growth if you rely on it. I am sorry that these interjections come with this timing, however.

It's a matter of time before AI replaces most artists, only luxury art will require handmade art in the future, very similar to how shoe cobblers and potters/ceramics/glass blowers became a luxury and most people use the machine-made mass-produced counterparts. I know some wish it weren't so but... at the end of the day only horse enthusiasts ride them now a days. No need to attack people using the tools of the future.

Sorry, Blackweaver, but the only way to prevent the normalization of low-effort AI garbage is to dump on it wherever it appears. You probably had good intentions, but... people really need to stop using AI.

If you actually think what these companies pass off as "artificial intelligence" is anywhere near capable of producing content of value, then you have been sold a lie. If anyone can shit out some ugly bland "aesthetic" art, some bland or incomprehensible stories, and some warbley unstructured tunes using generative models, then there quickly becomes no demand for it because any idiot with a computer can make it if they want to. It's an infinite supply with little demand.

Why do you think people care about art? We care about it because it's a conversation between humans. Art made by a person has a reason, a story to tell, a craft behind it. It evokes a feeling in us to see that done. It's part of what makes us human.

AI generated """art""" is nothing. It says nothing. It means nothing. It can produce 100000x (or whatever big number here you want) as much art as a human and it doesn't matter because no one wants it except fellow AI bros who are convinced its the future and somehow going to make them tons of money. It gets more and more unpopular with people every day as more people realize the limits of the models and the unsustainable environmental impact they have.
