Why is FFXIV using rubber bullets in the wild west?

I didn't like how juvenile and immature the Dawntrail story was, so I guess that took my attention away from this for a while, but now that I think about it, seriously... what the heck?

I can't even describe how poorly I think of that zone and its people for settling their duels with.... Rubber bullets....

In fact, it's so embarrassing I don't think I've even heard of a case of people doing that IRL throughout history, let alone a video game.

Excuse me!? it actually sounds like you can't tell the difference between reality and a short side story that started off comical to begin with.

Who decided that? Who said the first part of a new story shouldn't be taken seriously or shouldn't be good? It's a bad story writing, plain and simple, and these are merely excuses to cover it.

The Garleans used...real bullets. Quintus loads and shoots himself with...a real bullet. Hell just very shortly after this duel, the attack on Tulyollal happens. You know...where people are getting mowed down...by real bullets. But duels in the wild west? Sorry, devs decided that shooting something with real bullets without the intent to kill whatever they're flying towards during the main story is crossing the line, so the American cats get rubber bullets for their duels.

We literally had ANOTHER world ending threat, which was appearently even more dangerous than Meteion (cause we needed help from furry Naruto to get an "inspired-buff").
But now you're saying, we shouldn't take this story seriously?
Because the writers certainly did try to take their story seriously.


It's so tiresome, reading the same arguments over and over again, defending blatantly horrible and illogical writing.

My guess is they wanted to keep it at minimal considering later you have corrupted police killing citizens unprovoked
