yeah it takes time but it will eventually take all of the things over .unless it turns out to be a vr kind of flop then yeah it will die out . we will seeIf you actually think what these companies pass off as "artificial intelligence" is anywhere near capable of producing content of value, then you have been sold a lie. If anyone can shit out some ugly bland "aesthetic" art, some bland or incomprehensible stories, and some warbley unstructured tunes using generative models, then there quickly becomes no demand for it because any idiot with a computer can make it if they want to. It's an infinite supply with little demand.
Why do you think people care about art? We care about it because it's a conversation between humans. Art made by a person has a reason, a story to tell, a craft behind it. It evokes a feeling in us to see that done. It's part of what makes us human.
AI generated """art""" is nothing. It says nothing. It means nothing. It can produce 100000x (or whatever big number here you want) as much art as a human and it doesn't matter because no one wants it except fellow AI bros who are convinced its the future and somehow going to make them tons of money. It gets more and more unpopular with people every day as more people realize the limits of the models and the unsustainable environmental impact they have.

Or, hear me out, we can stop giving money to companies who replace AI with human workers. Corporations care about money. That's why they're looking to replace humans with computers. It doesn't matter that AI does a human's job in any creative field way worse than a human because the AI is cheaper. It's a matter of time before AI replaces most artists, only luxury art will require handmade art in the future, very similar to how shoe cobblers and potters/ceramics/glass blowers became a luxury and most people use the machine-made mass-produced counterparts. I know some wish it weren't so but... at the end of the day only horse enthusiasts ride them now a days. No need to attack people using the tools of the future.
I would also love to point out the disastrous consequences of AI on the climate. All of those computers need to be manufactured and they eat and ton of electricity, etc.
I know AI will never go away and I do think it has some limited use. But I refuse to encourage it or turn a blind out to its unethical dimensions.
I'm not religious but AI images sometimes make me think there is such a thing as a soul - because AI content doesn't have one. I'm hoping what will happen is something like what happened with gaming graphics. Anyone can make a photorealistic game now, more or less. And yet, many successful titles are so beloved because they have a distinct art style that stands out. AI (which I like to call "derivative intelligence", courtesy of James Stephanie Sterling) will make it so easy to plop out OK looking things that it will just make human-made content stand out more. Hopefully. If you actually think what these companies pass off as "artificial intelligence" is anywhere near capable of producing content of value, then you have been sold a lie. I will say that many people seem to have played with AI for a little bit to try it out and they're now largely giving up on it because it just isn't as useful as we thought it would be. Again, it has its uses but they are limited. It's definitely not "the future" like many people seem to believe it is. I might be wrong but I've seen this with blockchain before AI and that crashed and burned in spectacular fashion.
You sound incredibly uninformed but beyond that, living in naivete. AI is being incorporated into every single industry I can think of, from Art and Music to Sports and Medicine. If you think this will fall off like NFTs, you are sorely mistaken or delusional. It may be hard to accept but AI is taking over faster than anyone can stop it. As a toolset, it is far more productive, and becoming increasing precise at an alarming speed. Businesses are already building marketing teams around it because of it's tailored outreach capabilities. If you actually think what these companies pass off as "artificial intelligence" is anywhere near capable of producing content of value, then you have been sold a lie. Last year, AI art was still making pictures with 6+ fingers. Now? It's making photorealistic videos with moving people. We are now getting political ads using AI. You can keep saying AI art is "nothing" but it's literally not going anywhere and artists need to start utilizing it to stay ahead or they will find themselves out of business faster than they usually are. When it comes down to it, productivity (and the returns of) surpass all in the business world.
See, the funny thing is people said the exact same thing about every single overhyped tech trend that ended up fizzling out. AI still makes potentially fatal mistakes because it can't think. Sure, telling depressed people to go jump off Golden Gate Bridge is funny in a dark way but what happens when it gives bad medical advice and actually kills someone? Or when it causes traffic accidents? Or when it causes someone to lose all of their life savings? Until you manage to mitigate all hallucinations and teach the computer critical thinking skills, it will never be what many people claim it already is.You sound incredibly uninformed but beyond that, living in naivete. It's a neat tool for some things, but it fails miserably when faced with tasks that require creativity, too. Political ads really aren't the best example - they are all incredibly paint-by-numbers.
I don't think it will fully go away. I do think it will continue to be a useful tool in some industries (I know programmers love it because it helps them write code more effectively) but other than that, it's a massively overblown bubble gassed up by how capitalism works.
Sadly, another skill that has gone down the drain. Artists just can´t compete with AI anymore. The time they put into their work is all in vain, because a program does it much faster and cheaper. Think I will plan a long weekend to visit some old masters in the museum and look at those masterpieces, just to remind myself, what art was realy about.
Don't look back, that's not the way you're going.
Eh I say good job and good idea.I've enjoyed this game for 11 long and wonderful years. I've had good times, bad times, and through thick and thin, this game has been here for me. And with it being 11 years now, I thought I'd give something back. So I made this song using Suno (it's an AI Song Generation site) to celebrate these 11 years. I hope Yoshi P and all the folks involved with FFXIV enjoy the song, as well as the community:

It’s a nice and sweet gesture and in my opinion doesn‘t deserve all that bashing so have my like.
I am someone who has no big problem with AI anyway but I understand the other side so I will not comment further on it.
You see what you described is at base, a very surface level commercial portrayal that people against AI have harped on.See, the funny thing is people said the exact same thing about every single overhyped tech trend that ended up fizzling out. AI is already being used by hedge funds to predict market flow in the stock market and trade actively.
AI is already being used to impersonate people, voices and videography. (IE Darth Vader, Kanye West, Politicians etc)
AI is actively being implemented in all medical surgical fields to enhance outcomes. It's already completing surgeries.
AI is already integrated into marketing strategies that tailor advertisements of product lines to thousands of recipients, scrapping info from various sites on a given customer.
AI art is actively being used in production lines around the world. It is far faster to generate thousands of models/art whether 2d or 3d using AI by simple word prompts.
AI is being used to design chip boards now, allowing for more space and power to be utilized.
AI is being used to supplement nerve damage in humans to restore body function.
AI is being used for resume building, job applying, checking applicants etc
and alot more.
All in all, it's not going anywhere. It's not a fad like NFTs. It's already been implemented in so many ways and it's growing exceptionally fast in every single industry especially in all aspects technology. The AI is actively improving upon tech designs and thus making itself more capable with time. People think it's crazy far away but fully fleshed out AI-driven robots (with the uncanny valley removed) that people can own are likely within 10 years. 15 max.
What a big thread of luddites who can't see the tree for the forest.
I'll be spitting facts.
Yeah, she did a bad when she said she made it. I don't know the whole process when it comes to music.
But you all are being extremely unfair.
It's clear that she don't HAVE the ability to make music, that she either doesn't know how or maybe even anything.
Hell for all we know, she could have some real body handicap issues as well. AI therefore, allows her to still create something from her mind.
AI is an amazing tool, but half the people seem pissy and want to get back to the stone age. Just as it was the case with the.. what was it, yarn spinners that gave rise to luddites in the first place.
It's amazing how history keeps repeating itself over and over and over. Humanity NEVER learns.
You people are fighting the Flood of Light, and you will lose because the future demands it.
Especially the kind of Star Trek future I want with holodecks and a happy humanity. At least one can dream.
I honestly think that you all should take a step back and touch grass if all you're going to do is spit venom.
PS. I'm not going to check for reply. I already know they'll be full of venom and people frotting at their mouths and wagging their fingers trying to tell me how wrong I am.
The Pandoras box is already opened. Learn to use the tool, or ignore the tool. Those are your choices.
