Sub runs out in two days.
Honestly? The more I play the game, the more dissapointed I feel, because I keep thinking how they'll eventually solve something just to never have it adressed again.
It made me notice that this game is like the Blumhouse Entertainment of MMOs, they're charging us a monthly sub for the spectacle while investing as few resources as they can. We spend hours upon hours interacting with text boxes in what is basically a Visual Novel with extremely long pauses between events (as in, walking empty spaces), just to be rewarded with the spectacle that are dungeons and trials, we're chasing that carrot. The game is carried hard by Soken's music and the visuals, especially now that the story decayed. Say whatever about the decline of WoW, but it's ironic how it's more of a game than FFXIV.

There's plenty of story heavy games out there, including some FF ones, that have much more gameplay despite having extremely long cutscenes. I'm getting older every day, I have to be selective over what games I play because time is something I won't get back. In the 3-4 hours I take walking from aether current to aether current, from NPC to NPC, just to unlock a Dungeon or Trial, I could be engaging with the mechanics and story of other game that respected my time. I find it sad that I'm getting more enjoyment per time spent on free games like Zenless Zone Zero and Once Human, and spending what I pay for the XIV sub in this third world economy nets me a couple indies that make me feel bad I'm paying so little for something that has more effort put in than this game.

It's a combination of a lot, but it's just loneliness, boredom, and a bunch of things in this game that just aren't for me.
Got a house that I had help decorating to my heart's content but no one around to admire, so I don't mind losing it, if it were an FC house so I could use subs maybe I'd change my tune for it.
I don't Extreme or Savage without friends, I mean no disrespect to raiders but unless it's something like Tsukuyomi amounts of rewards, I don't feel enticed to play it cause my brain just thinks "Eh, the items will get power crept anyways"
Things like Mahjong, I'd rather play in Mahjong Souls, something dedicated to it, y'know?
So join an FC to get people to do things with, but the last I was in is slowly fading and dying away and the ones around are just land, with all the social stuff in the game just feeling like a waste of time when Discord does it all anyway.

It feels like I drew a short straw on servers and ended up on one where everyone is insular.

Also, I didn't enjoy Dawntrail, so I got way more burnt out than usual and don't even have the spark to get excited about the next few patches, but that feels like small fries in comparison.
