Haven't unsubbed yet, but have had less desire to play as much. The weak MSQ and how homogenized and boring jobs have become is making me lose interest. I like the new raids, but I'm a new Savage player and Party Finder is kinda insufferable and I can't make a static work right now, so I cleared M1S, kept hitting the enrage wall on M2S, and haven't tried again in a couple weeks.

I've been debating trying WoW again which I never thought I'd say. Apparently the new Xpac is pretty good so far with a better story than FFXIV has. The cartoon graphics and the toxic community are the biggest things holding me back.

the community isnt so toxic anymore, I would say with toxic positivity 14 is even worse but thats just my take. The new story is great its fun and a new approach not a "regular" wow expansion. So far i can say as a new wow player who basicly run from 14 the story was enjoyable. I started in the end of dragonflight and when i was in a heroic raid for the achievement ( cool things btw to give achievements if you kill the raid while its fresh ) the one guy rolled on an item then whispered me if i want to have it he mistakently rolled on the wrong item and just traded it for free. Dunno if its me but i havent encountered toxic people there.

I am subbed because I still love the gameplay and the current end game. But if they throw another Stormblood MSQ at me in 8.0, I am not sure I'd continue. It's been a decade since I transitioned from WoW to FFXIV. Now as an adult I have less time to enjoy a game, I am not going to spend what little time I have on a game that decided to go in a completely different direction. The MSQ should at minimum have young adult themes and not make me feel like I am watching the equivalent of Dora the Explorer for the first half of it only for the second half to be rushed.

My sub runs out in 2 weeks and I won't be returning unless things change drastically.

HW gripped me with it's fantastic setting, realistic characters and S-tier story. I've been an MSQ junkie ever since. When when I've unsubbed before, I always looked forward to returning as I loved fooling around with friends on discord and slowly grinding relics, glam and side content.

EW patch content was a disaster. MSQ and trial stories were consolidated into one, the endgame zone was substituted for a Microsoft Excel simulator and the fun relic grind was reduced to a vendor weapon. The lack of midcore content really stood out. It was so painfully obvious that the team's resources and attention went to FF16, when they should have been focusing on 14 during its jump in popularity due to WoW's downfall.

I was really, REALLY looking forward to a complete reset with Dawntrail. Specifically a brand new, original story and THE MOST CONTENT THEY'VE EVER PROMISED!!!!

I mean, sure, content usually comes in patches, but they've never announced an endgame zone, criterion, cosmic exploration, a limited job, deep dungeon, ultimate, daily tribal quests, etc, on top of the usual content, ALL IN THE SAME EXPANSION! Surely, at least 1 of those pieces of content will be available at launch, right?

Then Dawntrail released - literally the single worst MSQ experience in the whole franchise's history (except FF11, never played that one, so I wouldn't know).
Slow pace, lack of actual gameplay, an awful children's story in a game where adult topics were always the norm.

At least the leveling dungeons were great, so I was looking forward to all the promised conten....Wait, the only thing available during the first month of release is a treasure dungeon.... Which is a reskin of all the previous treasure dungeons down to even the layout.... -_-

Dawntrail's MSQ was so abysmal it not only killed my excitement for the story, it lifted the veil obscuring the game's, well, gameplay shortcomings.

I can only repeat the same dungeons, raids and extremes so many times before I reach for my PS5's power cable. Especially when the majority of jobs I enjoy play identically to how they have for the past 2-3 years.

There's nothing fun or exciting for me.

After Dawntrail's launch I stayed subscribed for 2 reasons: playing with my discord friends and waiting for a Live Letter hoping the negative feedback will be addressed and a course-correction promised. Yoshi-P's recent interviews killed that last hope.

I'll keep an eye on subsequent patches, but until something drastically changes that's it for me. It's a shame, because I love MMOs, but now none appeal to me. I guess single player games it will be for a while ..

The quality of the MSQ usually makes me forgive a lot of the blandness when it comes to class design in this game, but Dawntrail was awful and I honestly can't even muster up enough will to continue playing so I've cancelled my sub today. I'll keep a lookout for updates to see if anything changes but I doubt it'll be any time soon that my interest is reignited. Besides the MSQ my biggest complaints are class design being homogenous, especially tanks. We basically only have 1 1/2 tanks with different flavours of special effects. DPS is better but they all do still feel very samey. Dungeon design is just bland, there really is nothing exciting going on in these things anymore and without any big story reveals it really shows how boring it is to run them.

I didn't even try the EXs this time around cause I didn't care so I won't really comment on them. Raid was fine too I guess, I liked the music. I guess what would really entice me to come back is if the classes got the same sort of flavour they have in PVP in PVE. Give me a Dragoon that can jump to avoid deadly mechanics. Lets see a reaper that can mass CC mobs to interrupt multiple casts, a DRK that actually sacrifices health and defensives to do more damage. That would be interesting. Until then though I'mma just play something else.

I'm sticking around till 7.1. I usually love Alliance raids and that's gonna be the real barometer to the game's direction as far as I'm concerned. I'd consider unsubbing right now and coming back for 7.1, but I still would prefer to not lose my medium house; Though the new GW2 expac is making me reconsider that concern a bit.

they have so cool features in their housing. I mean you can pet your mounts what more do you want ah an alt room oh wait they got that aswell. Just reading this made me want to try out the new GW expansion.

So, after reading some of your comments, I felt like sharing my own thoughts as well.

After Shadowbringers (ShB) and Endwalker (EW), I wasn't expecting much from the story. The EW 6.X patches only reinforced my skepticism. Interestingly, I was discussing Dawntrail (DT) with my wife, and while she was convinced that DT would be a disaster—fearing that the story would be slow and possibly boring—she was particularly upset because her most anticipated class for years is on its way to the doctor to be castrated into a limited job. (Great job, by the way, after saying you'd never make another limited job again.) I don't care much about Beast Master myself, but it does make me think: I'm paying the full subscription fee, so why am I getting a limited class? Should I be able to pay a limited subscription just to keep my house? I doubt it.

So, after months of defending DT with thoughts like, "Maybe they'll surprise us" or "They might add something interesting," the release date approached. My wife bought me DT as a gift because I had been looking forward to it and was excited. On the pre-release, I jumped into the game I've loved for so many years, eager to continue the journey. But after the first dungeon in the MSQ, I found myself more bored than I was in Final Fantasy XVI... DT eventually turned me into a story skipper because I was completely uninterested. I started visiting the forums, and it turns out I'm not alone.

Now, after hearing that they see the feedback but aren't addressing it properly, I'm noticing a lot of Blizzard-like moves. Meanwhile, Blizzard has made some changes that I thought were great, so I decided to give them another chance. But after seeing some interviews, I’m not sure if Yoshi-P is just tone-deaf or if he doesn’t understand the feedback.

Long story short, here are my reasons for staying subscribed:

I always have a 6-month subscription, which I paid for in July, so I’m stuck.
My large house.
Eden was my first raid tier, and I really want to see the ultimate.

Reasons for unsubscribing:

The MSQ is bad.
SE employees insult customers, or GMs close threads without a reason.
The job changes... I don’t even know how to describe them.
No fun events or anything giving me a reason to log in between 5-month patch gaps.
Yoshi-P's interviews—just read them, and you’ll understand.
The healer situation is absurdly bad.
Tanks are no longer fun to play.
I found a fun DPS, but it's getting weird changes with the Savage patch.
No QoL improvements this time? There are so many things to address, and no, the blacklist is just a half-measure QoL change—don’t get me started.

It's sad to see the game in this state, but recent patches and DT make me wonder if the joy I've experienced in the past few years was just luck or if I was looking at CBU3 through rose-colored glasses...

Unsubbed, just waiting for my time to run out.
1. Story is terrible, it's just worshiping YoshiP's furry Waifu that's he's trying to get pregnant.
2. Healers suck, begging for people to heal isn't going to do him favors this time
3. Phys range is awful, specifically MCH bringing nothing to the table
4. YoshiP can't stop lying, and the false advertisement that got me to buy the sub pisses me off
5. Broken payment system to force people to pay for 2 months with a game time card pisses me off more.
6. Class balancing poor AF, the Kneejerk viper changes that didn't listen to the players should not have happened.
7. YoshiP ignoring JP and EN on feedback, when he said that you should listen to criticism because it's from people who care.
8. Game reeks of SBI/Consulting influence, so I'd rather not support that.

I have around 2-3 weeks left. In EW I took a break at the launch of 6.1 till ~6.35 for a moment and then 6.55. Now I'll probably wait for 7.5X. The second expansion I find not really playable outside of the MSQ hype period (and the MSQ was worse so I care less). My backlog of things to do (some relics, some job leveling, Eureka glowing armor...) is long but I just don't have the motivation. I spammed a lot of DT dungeons, and got DoH/DoL done as well.

7.1 should have "Cosmic Explorations" for DoH/DoL - although nothing is known - how it will play, whether it will require actual jobs, whether it will have actual rewards and not yet another mount/pet/achievement (200+ crafter materia and the 7.3 DoH/DoL scrip component please, if not I don't see a point in playing before 7.5X). Expansion went out and we don't know anything about expansion-specific content... Also, the expansion is just a copy-paste of the template, there is no testing, no innovation, no nothing...

I have not unsubbed since HW, it was only for a week because of some personal issues that had little to do with the game.

I however am considering dropping my sub in the next cycle if they do not address the issues of the graphics update making people ill.

I enjoyed the MSQ of DT and I enjoyed the battle content that I've been able to get into. I want to support the game and the Devs, but I will not support them if my ability to play uninhibited is not restored. I'm already ill, I don't need a game making me feel worst.
